It is the Dust Bowl all over again. I have recess duty 3-5 times a week and I can barely stand it! The field...haha, field...is nothing but red dirt, and they recently poured concrete out there so there are piles of sand. It is blowing everywhere.
My eyes hurt, my nose is so dry, and my skin makes my grandmother's skin (God rest her soul) look supple. My hands make just shrivel and fall off soon. We haven't had any precip in weeks! They are saying this is the longest bout since the actual Dust Bowl. I believe it! Just a mini-vent. ;)
CAT,
Can you sent us some of your dryness? And I'll send you our floods and four foot snow banks. ;D
Carebear, right now I would gladly take some of that action!! :D
Can I send you some moisture from Iowa??? I am in Eastern Iowa and at the moment we are getting SNOW! It is not sticking but snow? Waaaaahh! >:(
They are still talking about flooding in areas in Iowa so I'd love to send you rain if I could.
It is a remarkable drought. In central Oklahoma, some sites have had as little as 3.4" of liquid equivalent precipitation since October 1st. This is roughly 20% of the normal precip for a little more than half a year. Hopefully, we'll be done with this La Nina pattern weather soon and get back to normal or wet pattern.
I suppose the upside for normal people is that we have had almost no severe weather this spring in central and western Oklahoma.
