Have been having very bad pain in my right lower leg since late summer. I had a MRI of my leg done in September which showed an abnormality in the marrow of my upper leg, which is not where it hurts! Since I work at the hospital, I was able to talk to the Radiologist then who suggested a Bone Scan if the pain continued. Due to several other issues, I have just had the Bone Scan done, it does not show much except for joint degeneration all over, but nothing specific in that hurting leg. I am scheduled tomorrow for another MRI of the leg, which my doctor has ordered for the continued pain. It gets better and worse, but never goes away. Some days I could just sit down and cry. I am just trying to decide whether to even bother with th MRI, not sure what it will really show, and this is sure getting expensive. Anyone have anything like this? It feels like a spike is being driven into the bone, not related to movement or touch. I just want it to stop!

Perhaps think about what is going to give you the most peace. It can be very reassuring to rule out various diagnosis, as our mind can go to so many fantasies and worries.
Of course, money issues are also important. But we need our precious bodies to be here and most of us die with money in the bank. . .We have an AI disease which in its confusion or malfunction "attacks" us. Given this reality, what loving, gentle self care can we do for our bodies to counter and minimize the AI stress.
Perhaps your doctor can advise you on how necessary this expensive test is.

Has anyone suggested a liver function blood test - may sound odd, but that is what my GP ordered for my leg pain. Am now under the care of a Hepatologist, among others, but my leg pain has been made manageable without medication.

Hi there, i might just go ahead and have the second MRI just to make sure and positively rule out anything abnormal that might have been missed the first time and It would at the very least give you peace of mind. I am so so sorry you are in pain. I am sending you a hug.
