Title: New Zealand
Post by: Chickpea on February 23, 2011, 11:04:01 AM
Does anyone have news of Sjoggies in New Zealand?  The TV pictures of the aftermath of the earthquake in Christchurch, South Island are just terrible.  New Zealand is a small enough place for everyone to know someone who's affected by this disaster.

My thoughts are with everyone in NZ, or who has friends and family there.

Please pass on any news you have of our dear NZ Sjoggies.

I sent her a PM.  I haven't looked up where she is and where the 'quake is exactly...I pray for everyone, and hope she replies safely...

I think Joe is right. We need to keep her family and the people of that area in prayer.

Bopeep is from New Zealand.  The last earthquake that a few month's ago hit Christchurch, I inquired of Bopeep if this caused them any damage to their buildings or 300 sheep.

She said Christchurch was not very close to them and they did not sustain and damage as they were out in the countryside area.

Her husband passed away February 2 of a rare disease of liver, amidolidosis (sp). Remember Sjoggies, her telling us of his death on the site.

Can only image her sorrow and the responsibility she alone has to 'shoulder' now he is gone.

Please, prayers and thoughts need to be sent her way. She was concerned she would have a 'big flare' and not be able to 'carry the load' that would be demanded of her.

The last comment that I got from her just after his death is that the neighbors were coming around and offering to help. I know that does no last long. I hope that she is doing well.

They aren't releasing the names of the missing yet. I don't have friends in ChCh, but relatives and daughter in Wellington. Daughter works in ICU at the main hospital and they are filled up with people having crushing injuries. So sad.
