Title: raynauds and taking zomig or other triptans... please read
Post by: valene2009 on February 21, 2011, 03:15:15 PM
ok.. now that i find out it isn't suggested u take triptans for migraines if u have raynauds i see many of you on here do..that makes me feel better--i have never noticed a raynauds flare up after taking zomig for a migraine... so could i be safe to assume that it is probably safe for me to take?  i am going to my rheumy in 2 week and will discuss with her... but my raynaud flares are so slight--they barely happen unless my feet or sometimes hands get cold (always in winter..) and i swear being on plaquenil has helped the raynauds too.. could this be right??thanks

I am going to suggest a meditation that may help both your migraine and your raynaud's. It is a mind over matter type of thing and for biofeedback you can use a digital thermometer to see how you are doing. I was almost able to bring my hands up to 96.8 degrees. For a visualization I use the Human Torch from the "Fantastic Four" comics having flames coming out of his hands or feet depending which is a problem for me.

Okay, find a comfortable position for yourself. Close your eyes and look to the top of your forehead. Breathe in and think "Hot hands" (or feet), breathe out and think "cool head". As you practice this, your blood will flow appropriately. Your migraine will go away and your hands will become warm.

It took me a few weeks to start to see relief.

ok thanks . i will try it.. i dont get the migraines often-usually if i am  under fluroscent lights.. i have ext low blood pressure..maybe that is why my docs prescribe the migraine meds even tho i have raynauds... again after taking the med i have never had a raynauds flare and i barely notice my raynauds anymore.. i swear the plaquenil is helping it.

It is best to practice when you do not have the symptoms.

Oh Joe, just felt my ears and they are cold as if I had been helping you shovel snow...  Off to bed to wrap my head and get it warm and hopefully the feet will follow suit.

Nighty night Sjoggie friends..... Joy
