Title: barbeque and dry eyes 8 hours later? is it from the food or just a reg flare??
Post by: valene2009 on February 21, 2011, 07:00:19 AM
i am not sure if i am having a flare due to just having one or because i ate barbeque chicken yesterday at 12:00-
my eyes started feeling irritated and really super dry around 8pm and still are this morning.. I was just curious if the flare
is due to a food does it usually take about 8 hours to happen??? does anyone else go through this with food or do you think
i am just having a flare because i am??!!  thanks guys and gals!

The only way to answer this is to cut food groups out and see what happens.

Did ya' eat bread with the BBQ?
Was there sugar in the sauce?
Both of those are triggers.

i never eat bread-too dry for my mouth..
hey i started feeling so much better around 11am.. almost 24 hours after the food culprit.. either it was the
barbque and/or plaquenil really helps cut down the durration of flare ups. wow.!!!!
usually i follow a really strict diet.. i do know that i can eat chocolate when i want and it has no bearing on me. which
is a good thing.. anything acidic tho including oranges makes my eyes burn within a day..guess the barbeque did it

Just out of curiosity are you referring to home BBQ with a grill. If a person is sitting in close proximity to the fumes of a grill eyes can get dry. I have had this happen to me and it can last for a couple of days. Irish ;D

I didn't realize food could cause a Sjogren's flare.  Is this common?  Can someone post the information on it somewhere, or a link to the info.  I would be interested.

great that you were able to figure out the trigger!

I eat all the "wrong" foods...no one really knows what triggers this stuff IMHO. Could be coincidence.
