Title: Neuro appointment today more procedures
Post by: dainbramage on February 17, 2011, 05:38:58 PM
I went to my neuro. MRI showed white spots but they are not bigger than last time. I am going to have a lumbar puncture under fluoro for MS, cardiac TEE to see if I have any cardiac issues, cerebral angiogram to see the white spots if it is some type of vaculitis or MS or ?, and botox injections to help release my stiff neck muscles and help with migraines. My swollen lymph nodes were not addressed...got to make an appointment with my ENT.
Hey how many doctors does everyone see for your syndromes?
GP, rheumy, neuro, ENT, pulm, GYN, dentist, eye doctor I got 8 ;D

Eight must be the magic number because that's what's in my arsenal of usual and customary providers.

On my road to diagnosis I was having mainly neuro symptoms, and was orginally worked up for MS.  My first MRI showed one small white matter lesion that they attributed to my history of migraines.  Then a year later numbness/tingling and neuropathy got worse so they did another brain MRI which now showed 5 small white matter lesions, and they did a lumbar puncture also.  Neuro thought I had MS, but lumbar puncture came back negative so she believes it is all related to the Sjogrens!

I have 7 and growing,  rhuemy, GP, Opto, gyno, nuero, ent, dentist.  I would have a pulmenary dr as well if it was up to my rheumy, but the GP is following my lungs for now.

dainbramage I can add one or two more to the list....GP, rheumy, neuro, ENT, allergist, GYN, dentist, eye doctor, Gyno and Urologist and the new one is the GI Dr seeing him this Wed for my 3rd colonoscopy! I have to be honest I hardly ever see the GP!

Good luck with your tests, please let us know how you make out. By the way how are those lumbar punctures, very painful I would expect?

Feel Well

HI Guys,

I don't see a neuro although I do have some PN, but here goes my current dr list:

GP, ENT, Gastro, Rheumy, Chiro, Podiatrist, ENT Onocologist, Physiatrist (a rehab doctor not a shrink), Pain Management Dr, Thorasic Onocologist, Radiologist (injects my Si joints under fluroscopy 3 times a year with cortizone), Gyno and a CognitiveTherapist.  Keep in mind that this list can go up or down depending on what ails me, but I've seen all of these drs in the last 4 months.

Oh I did forget about my Gastro dr= 9. I don't count radiologists or any extra...
Lumbar do not hurt if it is done right. I am more worried about if my cerebral comes out funny then I have to have a cardiac cath. Those are not fun :-\

Hi,

I am new here.  I have about the same amount of doctors.  I do have MS for the last 17 years.  I have had the spinal tap and had them give me something to relax me before I had it done.  It was not painful.  Just make sure you drink lots of water and stay in bed after the procedure for the entire day or you can get a killer headache.  I did not get the headache as I stayed in bed but a lot of people don't listen and I hear they wished that they did.

I hope you don't have MS.  But if you end up having it, you can lean on me for any questions you may have.  I also go to a ms chat site that helped me through my dx that I can direct you to.

Good luck on the procedure and I hope it yields some concrete but positive answers.

I also had LP last Nov. it didnt hurt at all-I saw the xray machine and the spine photos w/needle inserted and commented it was freaky doc was going to move the screen but I said no leave it pls so I got to see the needle while it was in my back w/xray and the dr showed me the spinal fluid after the pull so I would know what it looked like.

I really was dreading this procedure and all of the above actually calmed me down as I think the unknown and not seeing would have been worse.I had to stay in the hospital flat on my back for 3 hrs after to ward off LP headache.Did not get one and back was sore for about 2 days.

This procedure went really well and I freaked myself out more than any trauma they did  ;D so I wish you a speedy procedure, quick recovery and fast answers.

Not only do I have all these doctors, my son has a lot of procedures too. He has hemoc, pulm, peds, ENT, dentist and eye. Since his disorder has so many problems he also sees thse doctors on a continous bases.  Now my daughter has to have a tooth removed surgically.
