Title: Plumber coming in 15 minutes!!!
Post by: Bucky on February 15, 2011, 10:38:02 AM
Hi - some of you may remember my "Speed Cleaning 101" post from last month.  Where I quickly straightened up the house for the internet guy who was coming in 45 minutes.

Well . . . . this morning, I get a phone call from the plumber.  We've been waiting and waiting for him to come.  He had to reschedule two times.  Calls this morning and says, "hi, this is Bob . . . we'll be there today - in 15 minutes!".   :o

Oh boy . . . 15 minutes?!?

Here's what I got done in 15 minutes:

*  put water/cinnamon concoction in the microwave to make the house smell good
*  put toilet bowl cleaner in toilet
*  run swiffer around the bathroom, hallway, kitchen
*  sweep the kitchen floor & mud room floor
*  put towels away in bathroom (hide in linen closet)
*  cleaned toilet
*  cleaned sink in bathroom
*  closed bedroom doors
*  run to living room window to check if they're here
*  got on hands and knees and spot cleaned the kitchen floor
*  took kitty litter pan to garage
*  wiped down the kitchen counters & stove
*  run to living room window to check if they're here
*  took calendar & pictures off refrigerator door
*  removed all the contents under kitchen sink (where plumber would be working)
*  took all the papers, misc. "stuff" off kitchen table - hid in bedroom
*  run to living room window to check if they're here
*  ran a comb through my hair - no time to wash it now . . fluff it up
*  put some blush on, earrings and necklace
*  put up a clean hand towel in kitchen
*  THEY'RE HERE!!!   :o   :o

Thankfully - they were in and out in less than 2 hours.

Keeping my fingers crossed the work they did on the washer and dishwasher will take care of the sewer gas smell we've been having when running these appliances.

OK - I'm not doing anything else today . . . I've done enough!!  LOL

We don't have any more repair people coming for anything (knock on wood) - so, no more of this quick, quick, quick cleaning.  Whew!!!

Bucky - who is packing away her "Superwoman" cape and ready for a nap!

Oh, sweet Bucky, You are a hoooooooooooooot!!! :P

My tiredness is coming back more each day as is pain now that my steroid shots are 'wearing' down.

Sure enJOYed the 6 weeks of saying, "Yes, I'll do that tomorrow or meet you tomorrow for lunch!!'
Tonight realize the 'easy ride' is over.

So sad to get a taste of the good times and then the road again becomes a road with many bumps.

Oh, well if I can get a decent night's rest... I'll certainly PACE myself tomorrow; you know, positive attitudes change everything!
One step at a time will turn into a day!  Nighty night....   Joy

Bucky,

:) ;) :D ;D You ARE Super-Bucky!
(I just want to know why you had to pull the calendar and pics off the fridge. Are they that "revealing, embarrassing, or otherwise interesting"??)   ;D

Hi Bucky,
Um, gee, I like the cinnamon in the microwave, but I realized I have less than stellar standards for housekeeping the day I went to provide therapy for a woman, 75 or so, who had just had a hip replacement.  After she apologized for her "messy" house (which needless to say was spotless and much cleaner than mine!) she got up to iron her 50-ish son's t-shirts.  I am not making this up.
But you are still awesome!   :)

So funny, harrigan.  I missed the "hair-fluffing, necklace and blush" part of this!  ;) :D

I swear, Bucky, there are days when (even though I TRY to look decent) a service-person may be lucky NOT to find me in my jeans, robe and bare feet. No hair-fluff, no blush or necklace. Lucky I have a shirt on!!

hikerknees,
The woman you provided therapy for sounds very similar to my mother's best friend. She is about 85. Her house is spotless, until last summer she still insisted on regularly trimming a huge array of bushes lining her yard, and still insists on trying to make lunch for her 50-something son to take to work. (because he likes a certain kind of jello)  ;)

As far as I know, she still has a wringer washer in her basement she uses all the time. She is quite well-off financially, so she could have bought a new washer long ago. In fact, her son bought her an automatic washer years ago, she tried it and he had to return it since she said it didn't clean her clothes like the wringer. She is a very sweet and kind lady, but she has her little eccentricities (like us all, I suppose)!  :D ;D

I always take stuff off the front of the refrigerator when repair people come to the house.  I don't know . . . I don't want them reading my calendar and knowing what we're doing.  LOL

And YES, I always put at least earrings in when someone is coming.  The blush just makes me look like I'm among the living.   :D

I'm also happy to report that so far, so good, on the plumbing repair.  No sewer gas smell any more!!   ;D

Have a good week everyone.  No school tomorrow for our son . . we get to sleep in.  Yay!!

Bucky,
I'm really late with a response, but I was just razzing you about the stuff on the fridge, you know. I can understand that you don't want a stranger seeing your calendar.

I'm so fair-skinned, I can see the need for blush, too. Sometimes it just balances out the redness in my eyes!  ;)
Glad you no longer have the sewer gas smell around the house. That's gotta be a nice thing.
Take care,
Melinda
