My neuro and I discussed if physical therapy would help me with my neuropathy and gait disturbance, so I am set up for an evaluation this afternoon. Well, they should get the full picture, after spending three hours last night standing to download games to an iPad my body is shot! Wonder if anyone has been tossed out for not being in good enough shape.
Hi :)
I was sent to a 'core stability group' once. It was meant to be a 10 week course with physios and then people would get referred to a local gym with a vastly reduced membership fee.
I couldn't stand on one leg for love nor money and i fell off one of the big 'balls'. Then I got cracking migraines after every session so after 5 weeks the physios suggested I pack it in as it seemed to be having a detrimental effect rather than anything positive.
So saying i've seen physical therapists for a number of different things and usually I've found them very helpful. They've helped with OA in the shoulders and tendonitis in the elbows and fixed me up well after a dislocated elbow.
Take care - Scottie :)
Hope your appointment goes well! Like Scottie, I was sent to PT a couple of years ago, primarily to strengthen my core. After three visits, I had to resign - the exercises were creating havoc with my elbows and knees, and it just wasn't worth the pain. However, my rheumie has referred me again, for my knees and hips. It's at a different place, so I'm hoping it will be different this time.
I think I would like a desert island, with nice warm seawater. I would just relax in the water and gently exercise. Just need to win the lottery first :)
