My new granddaughter was born last Tuesday and I am at my daughter's house to help her out and I get sick with a sinus infection. Why???? Why does this always happen when you want to help someone else out. I feel horrible, such pain in my head and face. I feel like such a looser, I really haven't done alot to begin with. Her two year old and I have been playing for a week and I cook dinner for them, but that is about it. Oh, today held my granddaughter for hours, she really doesn't like to be held a lot and is more content to be in the bassinet.
Well thanks for listening to me whine. Hope everyone is doing OK.

AAwwww, Cricket, congratulations to you and the Mum & Dad,
I know how you feel, its like the song "Why does it rain on my parade"
Im sure daughter appreciates you being there even if you are out of sorts,
just being there making a meal is a boon to a new mum. Enjoy!

I agree with Dolly. Any help is appreciated and I'm sure she really appreciates it. Sometimes when I'm feeling bad and all I can do is go to work and that's all (read: no energy for the house), my mother-in-law may come over and load the dishwasher or throw a load in the washer/dryer. Sometimes I don't tell her enough but it's so much help, she thinks its no big deal.
Playing with a 2 year old and cooking dinner is major!!!!! I'm sure that what you are doing is exactly what your daughter needs you for! Congratulations on the new grandchild! I hope you feel better fast.

Cricket...congratulation!!! Another lovebug baby.
My 2.5 y/o granddaughter is coming this Sunday. I wish I could take her out in the snow. It is not going to happen. So I think I will throw a sheet over the table and make a tent for her..her own secret place. I remember when my brother and I were little and we had such a blast in our "tent". I can pull out the plastic containers for play. And I have a few books.
Simple things ....
Cricket, Congrats on the new grandchild. They are the delight of our lives aren't they? I am sure that anything you do is a help to your daughter. News moms appreciate having meals fixed especially. The house can always be cleaned later and a load of clothes thrown in as you walk by the washer, but everyone has to eat 3 times a day.
I hope that you were able to get to the doc for antibiotics if you needed them. I have darkened the doors of urgent cares and ER's up where my son lives.
HOpe you feel better and rest up when you get home. Yeah, I agree with you. Chronic illness can spoil a lot of what is supposed to be the fun times in our lives. The thing to keep in mind is that at least we are not 6 feet under for these special times. Hard to deal with sometimes but we all do the best we can and survive. Irish ;D
Congrats Cricket!!!! A new grand baby, wow! :D
And I sure hope that you're feeling a bit better (yeah, sinus infections are the worst!).
Take care of yourself and stay warm -
