Hi Allison and all.
Sooo glad to finally decide to join a forum and glad to be here with everyone. I was diagnosed with this nuisance about 5 years ago during tests for migraines. Good to be where peeps get it! WooHoo.
Welcome Miki! This is the best place ever !!!
Hi Miki,
Let me also welcome you to the SJS World and family! Please look around when you have some time as you'll find a ton of information in the ethers here.
As you've seen, this is a very friendly board and I'm glad that you're here! :D
Can you tell us a bit more about your self so the members can get to know you a bit better?
Take care of yourself -
Patze
Welcome Miki. I hope that you got your migraines under control.
Thanx for the warm welcome. I just turned 50 and I have 4 kids and 3 grandchildren. I still have 2 teens at home. I have been taking care of my grandaughter for a few months now. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago. Like everyone else it was the aha moment. Aha! That's why this or that happened or is happening.
It made me feel better just to have a name for what we go through, right.
Reading everyone's stories makes me realize things can always be worse and be thankful for the good.
Hi Miki,
Welcome to a great place for encouragement, support and loads of information! ;) We're glad you're here.
There are quite a few of us around that 50-ish age, like you. But you still have teens at home...they can be interesting, huh? Our 3 children and grown and away from home. The youngest is 22.
It does seem to help in some ways to have a name and a reason for all the "stuff" our bodies are doing to us!
Hope to hear more from you. And hope you have a good weekend,
Melinda
Hi Miki - welcome to your new family - we call ourselves "Sjoggies". :D
Are you also from Ohio? You originally posted under another "newbies" thread (AllisonG7299) and they (moderators) have given you your own thread for members to welcome you to the fold. Just wondering if you are also a "Buckeye"? I'm originally from Ohio, but now live in Illinois.
As you have probably discovered in your Sjogren's journey - life is never a dull moment! Just when you think you have everything figured out . . . bam . . . something new develops. ::)
If you have any particular topic you are interested in finding information out about, if you type those key words in the Search box in the top left of this page - it will take you to previous threads about it. If you can't find what you are looking for, always feel free to post your own thread.
I am also in my early 50's and have a teenage son. Knock on wood, so far - things are going well having a teenager. He's 15 and the joy of our life (only child). He's just starting drivers training education . . . yikes!! :o This is what is going to add stress to my life!
Again, welcome and I hope you find this site helpful to you. Just remember, we're all on this journey together - you're not alone in dealing with Sjogren's. The stories and experiences we share here with each other help us feel validated that we're not crazy and imagining all these symptoms. Everyone here "get's it".
Bucky
