Title: Tight feet
Post by: SLEEPY101 on January 23, 2011, 11:41:17 PM
The top of my feet feel very tight and painful. They feel like the bones are going to break through my skin. The left foot is the worst and sometimes I can barely walk. Is this just another symptom of nueropathy? Anyone else have this?

Sleepy, I think this is just part and parcel of SJS.  I have feelings of my skin being pulled tight mostly in my face, but it happens in other spots also.  My feet would probably be second.  If you think about it, our feel probably get more "wear" than any part of our body.  For most people.  I was a secretary and that meant I would type a lot, but I bet my feet got beat up more than my hands althought I had a job that was sedate.  Take care Lucy

I agree with you. My Dr thinks it is just Fibro but I really think my sypmtoms are to intesnse to only be fibro

Lyrica does help some of my numbness, actually more than some.  It helps a lot.  It is expensive, even with insurance but is one of my best meds.

I used to take lyrica but did not like the side effects. I do take 6 gabupentin a day with is very simular to lyrica. It has taken away the nubness but does not help the tightness of the feet. That is getting worse.

It is the PN.  I have often told my docs that I felt my legs would burst out of my skin.  It is the feeling like the fascia of your body is too tight.

I have this, but it's on the soles of my feet. It feels like the bones are crunching together and it's all burning and tingling and pulsing through the skin.

Does yours happen only when you walk, or is it there when you're resting too? Mine is brought on by walking for any more than 10 minutes. The only thing that helps is to elevate my feet. It takes hours to pass. I walk anyway - what's the other option? I aint got wings.

I have the same thing, I'm pretty sure it's the PN. If I sit or stand for more than 10 minutes or walk around the pain is crazy down the sides of my legs and my feet... actually it's really every where on my feet now!

Lying down and putting my legs up is the only way to help with the pain. We need to get some exercise so we have to push on through, some people use different drugs, I can't take anything much, makes me very ill.

I hope you feel better!
Mary

I agree with pushing through, however, PN is neurological damage, and exercise doesn't really change it.  Exercise in general makes us feel better, if we don't overdo, but the effect on PN, is tricky.  People with PN in their feet, especially, are prone to injuries they may not feel (despite having a lot of pain from the PN).  People with foot issues who have PN, really need to follow 'diabetic' foot care measures.

Yes I agree, we have to be very careful with our feet. I look at mine every day. I have gained so much weight because I can't exercise like I used to, now I wear big mens diabetic socks when I sit around the house !!! LOL

My feet hurt nearly all the time, but I don't have the "tightness" others are describing.

Feet can hurt for a variety of reasons, arthritis being one of the more common ones.

Neuropathy can be burning, tingling, a deep bone aching and/or this tightness.
