okay I am rather excited about this little find of mine so I thought I would share..
So most like sjs I suffer from cold feet.. and cant stand having thick heavy socks on so my solution ( well actually my boyfriends nifty xmas present ) Possum Fur socks!!! they are extremely warm, soft ( its a mix between merino wool and possum fur) the possum fur is actually hollow so the socks feel like light cotton ones with all the warmth of thick woolly heavy socks!! I love them.
he got them online from a store in new zealand..
for those who get cold toes check them out!!
not only are they warm they make a great conversation starter lol
Are they sheared on a possum ranch like a sheep ranch?
Oh Wiccagal!
I read Possum FOR socks!
"She's got possums on her feet?"
Glad I got THAT straightened out!
Do your feet ever get warm? I wear socks to bed, but have to take them off in the middle of the night.
Keep us posted.
Kisses

I thought the same thing, I know possums are pretty stupid but even a possum would;nt stand for being used as a sock,
Haha. I doubt any self respecting possum would let itself be used as a sock!!
Possums are actually a pest in Nz and aus.. They are generally culled to keep numbers down in NZ so some enterprising kiwi decided to put the fur to good use instead of wasting the resource.
Seriously warm and furry and great socks lol I am converted.. Get a scarf for valentines!!
Wicca, I'm not sure, but the entrepraneur who thought of possum sox might live in a state where possum is trapped or shot and the fur sold, especially if it's as good as you said.
Although raised near the Canadian border where folks hunted for most of their meat and also trapped fur and sold it, it would be a cold (lol) day in heck before I would wear possum. I think it's a fine idea for anyone desiring to do so, or mink, or muskrat, coon or whatever. Or you can knit your own. Lucy
Back in my trapping days, the old trappers would give us there possums since they weret worth much,, imagine there suprise at the fur auction, the buyers wanted possum fur,,,I recall we got about 5 bucks a piece,, ;)
