Today as I was driving down the road - traffic was going really slow and the speed limit is 55 mph. I get an opening and move into the left lane. Pass the "slow" vehicle and this person either had a newspaper open across the steering wheel or a map . . I don't know which, but if it was a newspaper, he shouldn't be reading and driving and if it was a map, he should have pulled over to look at it!!
People do the dumbest stuff behind the wheel of a vehicle!!
Bucky - who wishes she was an undercover cop some times . . I could hand out a bunch of tickets!!
I will be your deputy, Sheriff Bucky! >:( Completely irks me, too. A lady today almost hit me...driving INCREDIBLY slow, she pulled out into HALF of MY lane on a busy street, while on the phone. I looked over at her and she just starred at me. Grrrrrrrrr...
You reminded me. When I was in field service (many years ago) I had many long drives through ND. I would put the car on cruise and make sure it was in the ruts. I would read a book or two on the trip across the state. At the time the hi-ways had virtually no traffic. I could see a USAF bus taking people to and from the DEW line or maybe a traveling sales man. For most I was going too slow 75 when Nixon had the speed at 55. Seldom saw Hi-way partrol. Talked to a few of them on the CB at night.
It's illegal in the UK to drive while talking on a phone, is it the same in America?
But saying that there are still way to many drivers who flaunt the law regardig this.
Oh my Bucky don't ya know that they are special? ;) ::) Yeah, once saw a mother and child eating spaghetti from regular plates while flying down the road; yeah, scary.
I once had a friend that was a local trucker, and I road with him a time or two, and the things that you see...my goodness, I still need some brain bleach! :o
Patze
Ohhhh Bucky:
I want signs that I can flash on my car!
"Put down the newspaper and drive."
"Hang up and drive"
And a web site where you can post complaints about people by their license plate!
WTZ 459 You cut in front of people in three lanes to make that stupid exit ramp. Go beyond your exit and come back. Don't put everyone as risk because you didn't make the decision to exit in time!
Always amazed that there aren't MORE accidents.
Elaine
Chicago has to be the worst, drivers cutting across 4 lanes of traffic to exit, while talking or texting.
The morning commute when women finish putting on there makeup at 65 MPH using the rear view mirror.
Cremer - in some cities and states here in the U.S. yes, it is illegal to talk on cell phones while driving. However, it is not mandatory all across the U.S. Some states have also made it illegal (which it should be!) to be texting while driving.
In my personal opinion . . . there are WAY too many distractions for drivers, and they take the PRIVILEGE of driving for granted. Many drivers do not give driving their 100% attention - they are preoccupied with too many other things. So many needless accidents happen and lives are taken by carelessness.
Bucky
In Iowa it is illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving. Doesn't stop people from doing other crazy things.
You'all remember the lady who sued McD's because she got a hot coffee at the drive through and put it between her legs while driving and it spilled? Duh?
I always remember the trucks are bigger than me. I stay out of their blind side and stay well behing their rear bumper. If you are too close to their bumper and they have to stop, the "pull" will drag you into them. We had a lady with kids in a van some years back that that happened to - didn't make it out ok.
Eating spagettii off plates? That is one for the record book!
hehe I get really verbal at people like that. Not out the window or anything, but those travelling in the car with me certinaly get an ear full.
I agree with Patze they are special :P ::)
