Title: The weirdest sound!...?
Post by: CAT1962 on January 01, 2011, 04:34:37 PM
Ok, so weird. I have noticed something for the last few months now...just thought I'd run it by you all. When I chew something that takes "work"...:) Like homemade bread, chewy, etc. I can hear a metallic "clink" like sound in my left ear! SO strange. Like "Tink!...Tink!...Tink!..."...Am I just weird or does this sound like anything anyone else has had?

Cat,
That is weird.   You may have TMJ.  I sometimes have a sound with each chew, but not the sound you describe (more of a clunk than a tink.)  Mine comes and goes, and in my case, it is TMJ.

HI, Cheryl,

My dentist said I am a grinder  ;D, but hasn't really said if I DO have TMJ or not. I bet if I grind my teeth, I may have it. oops.   It's just the strangest sound. Like I have an iron jaw. HAH.  ;)

Maybe you are wired for sound!!! Sorry, I just couldn't resist that.

It could be something clicking in your jaw when you chew---not necessarily bone but maybe like synivuak fluid making noises with friction. I don't know if any of the joints in the jaw, face, etc have synovial fluid but might be worth asking a doc. Hopefully it is one of those things that isn't significant, just irritating. Irish ;D

Irish!  ;D That was funny. hehe ...Today, I just have the worst pain in my ear, throat jaw. Hoping I can get it tomorrow and get the root canal I need. I have Dentophobia (seriously looked this up), but right now, I couldn't care LESS what they do to stop this insane pain! I have had 4 children, and labor pains don't even come close to what I am feeling today.
