Within the last few days here in Central Illinois our driveway has had 7" of snow, slush, rain, and mud. Less than a week ago we had snow flurries. This morning at 4 a.m. thunder and lightning and heavy rain woke me up. One of the times I saw the flash of lightning and then BOOM :o immediately after . . . that one was close!! With your house surrounded by trees thunder storms can be scary.
We've been warming up here the last few days too. Yesterday we were in the 40's. Today we are suppose to get into the high 50's, low 60's! Tomorrow . . back into the 20's!! ::)
Yesterday they had a 3.8 earthquake in Indiana.
Mother Nature is very upset and is letting everyone know it . . . nobody has escaped her wrath. From coast to coast there have been warnings and advisories all week. Just think - we're just a little over a week "officially" into winter . . . we've still got months to go yet!! Could be an interesting ride!!
Everyone be safe . . . listen to the weather reports and be prepared . . . Mother Nature means business!!

100 vehicle pile up on interstate 94 in North Dakota yesterday.
In eastern Canada, we've dealt with major flooding and 4 storm surges (mini tsunamis) in 4 weeks........my cherished childhood beach has been totally washed away; a 6 foot cliff where there was once a gently sloping white sand dune! Roads washed away, vehicles afloat, and hurricane force winds just to make sure the few things left high and dry didn't feel left out.
Worse than that, 40-60 totally destroyed homes, and hundreds severely damaged.
Many families celebrated Christmas in alternate housing, with gifts and food from their neighbours and local businesses...a local resort hotel made Christmas for several families, almost within sight of their devastated homes.
In central and western Canada, bitter cold and blizzards, avalanches, and highways turned into snow covered parking lots, with drivers being rescued by snowmobile and put up at strangers homes nearby.
Bucky, you're so right......Mother Nature is very very upset!
I'm in Eastern Iowa. 45 degrees today then we get th plunge. Rain, sleet & snow flurries expected tonight and high tomorrow of 10. So we drop 35 degrees in one day.
Michigan- high of 55 today and thunder storms which lasted for hours this morning. Heavy rain, but no tornadoes thankfully. Lucy
All I can say is I agree!!
Mother Nature is definitely not happy and she is letting us know that in no uncertain terms!
Here in NC a high of 65, light rain, and fog off all the ponds and lakes.
Let's see what comes next!

We did have a tornado southeast of Springfield, IL yesterday. There were several tornadoes in surrounding states.
Yesterday, we were in the high 50's . . . today, low 20's with wind gusts between 17-23 mph makes the temperature actually feel like 8!!
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

23 in Oklahoma last week, 70 the other day, frigid again today. No wonder we Oklahomans are always sick!
OK - all of this and then I saw on the news that in Arkansas (outside of Little Rock I believe) they found dead fish and birds up and down the river. Locusts, anyone?
Here comes another round . . . . what did you people in the south do to upset Mother Nature? According to the weather reports - you will be targeted tonight and tomorrow.
Be safe everyone.

Here it is 12 days into the new year and the snow is still coming to a large portion of the U.S. Places that don't normally get snow are getting snow.
Today - the Eastern part of the U.S. is getting hammered. Flights are cancelled (again), railway is down for the most part, travel on the roads is dangerous as the plows can't keep up with the accumulating snow.
I hope wherever you are - that you are warm and safe. If you don't have to be out in the elements - stay home.
Bucky
Socked in-and I do mean big time. It has snowed here in the south for the past four days. I can't get out and I am getting
CABIN FEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
Here in southern VT ( Altitude almost 2000') we have about 26 + inches of snow since last night and it's still snowing. This beats the storm of Dec 27. Plus we've had light snow a few times in between!!!!! I have called my brother in Ga to see how they are doing with the snow they got, but he hasn't called back yet. My friend in NC called yesterday and said that the Raleigh area had ice as well as snow. I think I'll keep our 26 +!!

Tonight on the evening news they said that 49 of the 50 states here in the U.S. have snow on the ground right now. The only state that doesn't have snow is Florida! :o
Wow - 26" of snow is a lot!!
I'd much rather have snow than ice any day. I've watched some of those on-line videos of vehicles on ice and there is nothing you can do once you start sliding. Scary!!
Be safe everyone.
Bucky
Yep, just had a freezing drizzle and then some snow on top; way too much fun to drive in. :-\

Cold cold cold. About 5 inches or so on the ground and wind whipping around. I haven't even gone out to get the mail. Will let hubby get it. To cold for me to go out. Snuggled up on the couch with my little Bella (all bundled up in her sweater)
Stay warm my friends, cold is our enemy!
hugs, harlin
So much for Al Gore and global warming
However cold you are - this has still been the hottest global year on record.
The cold happens because of extreme climate change as well!
