Hi everyone,
I was curious if anyone sometimes has pain in in their fingers?
Mine always feel stiff and are swollen, hurt if I use them too much (Typing etc)
Just like my knuckles that are swollen aswell often red and so on.(Inflammation/arthritis)
But today I woke up and my ringfinger on my left hand hurted badly, it hurts to bend it or move it kind of.
My middlefinger on my other hand aswell.
Feels like when having a fractured finger or bruised.
I am going to my Gp tomorrow, I guess this could be something to do with the finger tendons(not sure if that is the correct word)
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this too. :)
There's always something new going on with me every day. :D
Lots of love and hugs. <3
Hi Shani,
Just to say that my Sis in law has had sore swollen fingers (and other parts) for years,
Her ankles and feet swell too, she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, She is on Methotrexate,
Now It could be something entirely different with you,
your wise to show Doctor. Hope it is something he can deal with, and
I am sorry you are dealing with so much right now.

If there locking over like mine who my doc said was arthritis, but its not,, it might be (sp),, Duprenons contracture),, the finger locks over and stays there, basically the tendon gets inflammed, and gets locked in the canal it goes through, I have 3 on one hand and two on hte other, its a pain
I just went to the hospital for xrays on my hands, shoulder and elbow. I have a lot of pain when trying to do stuff. some of my joints are swollen/deformed (pinky and pointer) on two of my fingers at the top joint. Can't open anything without pain and bones feeling like they are cracking and hands feeling like they are spraining...
doc said its probably RA from the Sjogrens. Well, i have a problem with this... I need to work and this is making it unbearable to do so. He wants me to see my Rheumy, but I can't do that until the weather breaks - I have more problems this year driving in the snow, brain fog, day dreaming, tired legs from all the break action (stopping and going), making turns due to shoulder pain and hand pain from gripping the wheel.
Too much to concentrate on...
Anyway i have a bone density test scheduled for next monday regarding the cracking of bones in my hands.

If it is arthritis you may want to try Hi-active Tart Cherry extract. The sever pain in my fingers is helped by these tablets. I first started out with black cherries after reading a very old book on herbs. The pills have a higher concentration of the active ingredients with out the sugar.
Hi,
Long before the Sjogren's, Raynauds, and peripheral neuorpathy my fingers would bother me. Sometimes if there is hidden salt in cooked foods, they swell. I do have moderate to severe osteoarthritis in both of my hands and a few other places. Tiger balm helps a little.
Joe where do you buy the cherry extract? Is is a capsule or a liquid in a bottle? Thanks.

Hi Shani,
hope you are feeling better by now. And yes I too experience pain in my fingers and hands. sometimes it's bearable but sometimes it gets so bad that I can't even move them! This also happens with my legs, arms and shoulders ???
Hope you have a the best holiday possible!
Thank you Lizzy.
Glad to know I'm not the only one, my doctor did a bone scan back in July.
But most likely it is arthrtitis just no destruction.
I suffer from a lot of joint issues like inflammations, swelling, pains.
I'll tell you what the Gp said tomorrow, I'm also letting him take a look at my shoulders. :-*
Thank you Dolly.
I bet Rheumatoid Arthtitis is a lot more painful.
I do have Lupus so that might probably be what is doing it.
It's odd as I am on Pred since August but recently have tapered again 7 to 6mg.
It doesn't give my any relief and it doesn't seem good that more inflammation and so on is appearing instead of decreasing.
Thank for your help.
Thank you Navydad.
Sounds very painful, they do feel a bit 'locked' or kind of really stiff when trying to move them or bend.
But I can still bend them, just hurts a lot.
I hope they are not locked.
Probably is indeed something with my tendonds.
Sorry that you are going through so much Twilite.
I can relate to the pain you are having with trying to open things or doors etc.
I really hope that x-rays will give you more answer about what's going on.
Hope it's winterbreak soon and that you can get in soon by Rheiumy, when you call for an appointment.
Gentle hugs!
Thank you Joe.
I'll have a look for that. :)
Thank you Catilee.
I didn't know about the salt thing, I'll have to watch that sometimes.
Thank you Mink.
Yes it definintely is painful, sometimes it's ok but then it can get really unbareable.
Very annoying to do anything simple like wash hair, brush hair, ...
But I'll be ok as always.
Hope you will have a great holidays. :-*
Just another thought on pain in fingers... With the holidays I have overused my hands.... Thus, am sleeping in hand braces and then pair of gloves covering braces to keep my hands and fingers warm as well as wrists.
Also helps with shoulder pain as know cervical spine has stenosis and know from experience and feeling that nerve is compressed in cervical area of spine and pain is radiating to shoulder, U arm, elbow, L arm, continuing into wrists, hand and ends up in thumbs locking up and fingers aching so with pain.
HAND BRACE USE DURING NIGHT DOES HELP THOUGH IS AGGRAVATING AS H... Found putting gloves over braces that have Velcro prevents V from sticking to fleecy bedding.
Please let me know if you try this and if it helps. Be interesting to know if something as simple as this can offer relief. Joy
I get mine at the health food store in my home town. Over many years I have talked to them about various things I have looked for. I also like magnesium oil for sore joints.

Shani
I am sorry you are having this. I wake up in the morning or during the night and I can't moved my fingers. They lock open and hurt so bad I can't close them. I have to run them under warm water or really work with them to get them to close.
Also when I type they get so stiff also. Just writing out Christmas cards was a chore. Anything I do using my hands effects the stiffness in them.
I wanted to try to put in a quilt this winter but I don't think I can hold a needle. I have to use a fat pen just to write.
I am sorry and hope you find some answers soon.
hugs, harlin
One thing I use when my fingers are really stiff is "magnesium oil". Basically it is very finely powdered epson salts in a super saturated water solution. It feels "oily" when you put it on. I made my own to begin with. Now I purchase it from a health food store.
Thank you Harlin.
It sure isn't fun and it hurts a lot.
I just sent e-cards this year instead of writing, a lot easier.
But after typing a while they do get stiff and hurt more too.
Hope you get some relief soon, many of us deserve some better and painfree/less pain days.
Gentle hugs! :-*
I'll have to see where I can buy that Joe.
I have been using gels like Voltaren and all those, but they only give a little relief.
Maybe Magnesium oil will be more effective.
Shani, Magnesium oil is for external use only.
Whoops, my bad Joe.
I can be quite silly at times.
Well I have Magnesium here, I had to take it for some reason before.
Not oil but kind of powder alike that you mix with water in a glass.
Confused,,, do your hands burn, like you have gloveson?

Aww Lizzy.
Hugs!
Yes it does tend to get worse with the cold and somehow I cannot stand holding my hands under cold water.
I guess this could be due to my Neuropathy tho, but my Gp said many people with arthritis and so on cannot stand cold water/the cold.
I also can't do a lot, typing really hurts after a little while, we both deserve to have a break from this.(Just like everyone else deserve that of course).
Futterfly, thank you pixie Sis!
I have heard about bursitis, but I hurt in so many places.
Some for more than 5 months already, it's hard to tell what is what.
Probably it could be things like bursitis in some, and then different in others.
I'll have a look on Google and see how it describes bursitits of the fingers.
I'm taking a painkiller every 4 hours, doesn't do wonders but without I'd be in bed all day.
Trying my best to stay strong.:)
Much love to you. <3
oh lil' tall 1!
