Title: My Methatrexate experience
Post by: kellyptyler on December 18, 2010, 12:15:10 PM
The Methatrexate is really helping me. It has really, really helped with the fatique...also with the RA...my doctor was amazed when I went back. I'm on the lowest possible dosage, but it's still doing wonders for me.
What does it do for others on it?

Hi Kelly:

I have RA and Sjogren's as well and the methotrexate has helped my RA joint problems a lot.

Do you experience hair loss with MTX?

My hair had already thinned quite a bit...the methatrexate has not made it worse. I think most people experience a little thinning, but nothing major.

yes MTX has been life saver for me... have RA as well and it has helped me a great deal with that & i noticed my dry issues with eyes and mouth are better too. also less fatigue.... only nap a coouple times a week now... i still sleep 9-11 hours per night though but feel decent in the day :)

have had no bad side effects.

am on 20 mg a week. ( thats  8 pills a week)

Thanks for positive news on Methotrexate. It may well be in my future and this is good to see. It'd be fun to see the look on mom's face if I were to tell her I'm on meth...

Kelly
I haven't really noticed a huge difference. I am on 5 a week. I have been having a flair for about 3 weeks now. I go in tomorrow for blood work. She wants to put me on an injection if this doesn't help. I really am not as fatiqued but I still cannot sleep very well. I toss and turn all night. Still waking up in pain. I am dreading going back. I now have a rash behind both knees. I don't know what that is all about. My legs are still giving me problems. I tried to do a little shopping and it makes my legs feel so bad.

Glad you are doing so well!!

Kelly
I had blood work and chest xray this morning. I see Rheumy on the 3rd. I also saw Gyno today. Cut back my hormone replacement to .05, I will call Rheumy office in couple of days for lab and xray results. I'll let you know.
Say a little prayer for me that white count has come up!

Kelly,
Methotrexate may be in my future as well.  My hands are showing signs of RA.  My rheumy says we'll talk about it at the next visit.  I'm so inspired that it's helped your fatigue.  I'm really glad you're feeling better!
