Title: Who's on Savella? And has it helped?
Post by: Meld256 on December 10, 2010, 09:26:09 PM
Hi, all

I suppose this has been asked previously, but curious about those of us with fibro. as well as SJS.

If you are taking (or have taken Savella) has it helped, done nothing, or did you quit after side effects?

I have been on it about 9 mths. and I think it helps somewhat, put still have muscle ache/pain and now much more joint pain. Planning on talking with my doc about Plaquenil. Any thoughts, please?

Thanks,
Melinda

I just started taking it today. I've read a lotof post on here that sound horrible about it but my doctor said (and I love my doctor) that he has prescribed it to his patients for years and has only had two not tolerate it. They had an upset stomach from it. I am hopefully it will help. The plan is for it to help my cognitive issues and pain so I can get off gabapentin which makes me stupid.

I tried Savella awhile back and after a few months, I couldn't think of anything that was either better or worse so I stopped it.  I am taking a bunch of others and have to pick my most expensive ones.  I had no bad effects, want to make that clear.  It didn't seem to help.  Lucy

Jozee,
I do hope it helps you. It seemed to take a few weeks for me to see a significant difference.  I had been on Cymbalta for a year (which helped the joints almost immediately) until I became more and more fatigued and sore/ in pain.

I'm also on Nabumetone (1,000 mgs. a day) and I'm sure it's helping somewhat, but I still have a lot of knee pain along with lower back pain. And I take 100 mgs. of trazodone per day.
I'm able to function but would sure be nice to be able to do more without so much pain and stiffness. Maybe that's too much to ask for.  :(

eyeamdry,
I understand about needing to pick the meds that help the best. If something doesn't help, I wouldn't continue it either.
Thanks for the replies.

Today is my third day. I sort of feel like I'm in a better mood. Not that I'm ever in a bad mood. I'm not...just feel relaxed for the first time in years. I do notice I'm sweating a lot.I normally NEVER sweat. I'm always cold. I don't care for that part because it's not like a little sweat. I'm dripping in sweat! Hope that goes away and that this will be the miracle drug for me!!

Jozee,
I'm hoping this will be a miracle for you, too!  The transition week or two from Cymbalta to Savella was rather nasty for me, but I think the Savella has done a better job overall.

I don't remember sweating, but I did have some odd mood swings for a few days at the beginning, like getting angry all of a sudden over nothing. But after a week, it was over.
So glad for you if you have found something to really help.  ;)
Take care,
Melinda
