Title: chronic tonsilitis
Post by: eamp99 on December 10, 2010, 06:23:27 PM
Has anyone else with sjogrens had problems with tonsils. I have had a sore on my left tonsil and pain in my left ear since June. Been going back and forth to docs trying antibiotics, nasal spray, neti pot. Just went to ENT. Had MRI of parotid gland which was normal. Now told yesterday by ENT I need tonsil out to check for cancer. Wondering if this could be Sjogrens related and not cancer. Any similar experiences out there? Thanks.

Before starting Plaquenil, I had frequent sinus infections, sore throats, etc.  I've been on Plaquenil several years now and until recently, I quit getting sick so often.  I think the dryness does contribute to more infections.  I am sure someone with more knowledge on this will come along soon.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.

eamp99, Welcome to the forum. I have had my tonsils out. I still get sever infections. As the AI gets worse so do the infections. I think for me it may be Streptococcus Pneumonia. I do not know what it is for you but I hope you find out soon.
