Hello learned friends!
For those of you with Fibromyalgia...have you been prescribed Plaquenil? And was it effective?
I have a dear friend who suffers from a lot of pain and fatigue from his Fibro, and he asked me if he should speak with his doc about it? What are your thoughts?
I have had fibro since 1983 and it was never offered to me until the Dx of sjogren's.
Carebear,
I take Plaquenil. It seems to help joint pain some, but not the muscle pain. Therefore, I don't find it helpful for fibromyalgia. Others may respond to it differently, though!

Hi Carebear,
I've had fibro for at least six years now and have been on Plaquenil for about as long. Is it effective with the pain of fibro? I say it does help with the joint pain, but not the muscle pain so much (it does help with the exhaustion though).
I use Lyrica for the neuro pain (also helps with the migraines), and Flexeril to help relax the muscles at the end of the day.
Good luck to your friend -
Patze
Thanks everyone,
My friend is taking Lyrica, just as you are Patze, and it has given him a lot of relief with his muscle pain. And it sounds like Plaquenil has the potential to improve the fatigue.
I look forward to more feedback.
Yes, I also have fibro and take plaquenil and lyrica and they both help.

I take MTX and Plaquenil for SJS, but also have fibro (later occurring) and take Lyrica now. Lucy
A few friends that have Fibro also take Lyrica, this seems like an effective drug for Fibro pain.
Worth a try. :)
