I have been reading posts here for over a year. This forum has been so helpful to me and my family. I would like to say that like alot of you I have been ill for years. I have
had a total of 23 surgeries. I'm 49 years old. I have been to so many Dr's, I couldn't begin to count. I LOVE my GP, he believed in me and in fact saved my LIFE! When we ran out of IST"S he sent me to the U of M. There I met the nicest Rhuemie. He ran a ton of tests. As long as I can remember I have had blood in my urine. He sent me
over to the kidney Dr. the same day. He in turn sent me for a CT-SCAN. Last Febuary I found out I had Kidney cancer. He called me the next morning! The end of April I
had the cancer removed! This april I was one year cancer FREE!! I also was Dx'd with Sjogrens at that time. Also last year I eneded up in the hospital with an absessed
tooth that almost killed me. I was in hospital for 16 days & three surgeries! My Gp said the puzzle has finally come together. I'm a custodian for a large high school. I was
on sickleave for 1 year. I went back to work and lasted 9 months. I'm now back on sickleave. I have much more to tell, but wanted to jump in and finally introduce myself.
Sorry, Dx'd Sjogrens Feb. 09 and Cancer April 09.
Wow, congratulations on the cancer-free status!!!! I hope it is permanent for you! You had a couple of rough years, didn't you?
Welcome to Sjogrensworld. We're glad to meet you. I hope your immune system gets straightened out and that your Sjogrens is manageable. Best wishes!
Cheryl
Welcome to Sjogrens World. I, too, am a kidney cancer survivor. My cancer was diagnosed two years ago and I had my surgery 1-15-09. I think you will find everyone here to be kind and helpful.

Thank you all for the welcome. Yes, 23 surgeries. They started when I was about 12 with cysts deep under the skin. Female problems. I had a ovarie that was attached to an artery, Dr. left a small piece and 6 weeks later grew another tumor on it. He went back in to get it off and cut the artery!!
Because of that they had to call in a trama surgeon, now I have three titanium clips holding it together.
I was told by a orthopedic Dr. last week ( very rudley ) that my sprained ligament in my knee was from Sjogrens and he can't do anything for me.
By the way, My name is ~Laura~

Dear Loon-Love aka Laura,
Like the others I send you a welcome. Some Drs. just don't get it. We do normal things that can sprain knees and ankles and...... Oh, well. I am glad for you that you celebrated your 1 year annv. for being cancer free. May it multiply to many many years! Rest that sprain so it heals. Like you I read these messages for quite a while before I came on board.
I hope the drs. can keep your Sjogen's so that it has a minimal effect on your life.
