I woke up on Saturday morning after a night of headaches with the blood vessel in my right eye I guess busted. The white part of my eye was all red on the outside edge. My husband says it is just a busted blood vessel and they can't do anything about it. This morning I woke up with the hole white area red. I called the eye dr to see whether to continue my restasis or not. They still have not called me back yet. Still waiting. I do have some dull pain like a headache behind my eye.
Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen? I was reading on the internet last night that it said that it could be an eye stroke!! Or it could be from high blood pressure which I don't think I have.
My husband has had this happen before and does nothing about it. It goes away in about 2 weeks. I am just afraid that something else is wrong since I have such dry eyes anyway. Do you think I am being paranoid?? ???
I swear I just go from one thing to another. Is it ever going to stop??

I would consider a trip to the ER.
It could be some kind of inflammation.
Would be better to go to the ER.
I don't think your Ophtalmologist will be able to say what's going on without seeing it.
I agree with the other and suggest having it checked out ASAP.
I have had 2 "eye strokes" (amaurosis fugax). Neither time did blood vessels break. Mine were evident with loss of vision (only on one side) either completely or partial field, for just a few minutes. Therefore, I'm hoping what happened to you is just a broken vessel. But please get it checked.
Since this nuttiness began,, I have had that happen about three times, first time it freaked me out,, but I didnt do anything about it,, it eventually went away,, and it came on like yours,, just a small area then the whole white part, lot of little bloodvessels in the eye, seems you bust one,, the whole thing goes red,, dont know what your intentions are, but I would be calling my GP,, eye doc again,, he can see inside it and see whats going on,,
I'd go to ER too - or here I'd go to a dedicated eye casualty dept.
Eye doctors office called me back and said to put drops in eyes 4 times a day and the restasis ok to put in. If not better by Thurs call back to see dr. I ask them if my eye should be swelling and they said yes it could. I told them that it is dark red like it is still bleeding. they think it is just a broken vessel. I probably will go in on Thurs.
I called dr back and they are seeing me tomorrow morning. Blood has spread to my entire eye. Yeck, my granddaughter said I needed a bandaid!

He is an Opthamologist. He takes care of my eyes for the Plaquinel. Do you think he will be ok? That is why I am going in. My husband says it probably is just the broken vessel but I want to be sure. My eyes are soooo dry. I hope I haven't done any damage waiting so long.

We all fear if we wait to long the damage will be permanent,, I suspect you will be fine,, ,, he;ll take a good look at it,, sorta eye to eye,,
Harlin, my husband had this happen once. The whole outer section of his eye was red when he woke up one a.m. When he had it checked, the dr. said it was OK and could have been caused by being poked in the night by a corner of the pillow case. He doesn't have dry eyes, though, so I'm glad you're getting it checked; better safe than sorry.
Thanks guys, I will let you know what happens. Felt really sick today. Think I am going into bad flair. That means injectible drugs yeck!!
