Title: Whats going on now????
Post by: Bopeep on December 05, 2010, 04:33:01 PM
Hi all, I haven been on for a bit. I seem to have hit a new mile stone, and its not good.

Yesterday I was cooking a roast for lunch everything was Ok then all of a sudden my left knee started to feel tight, and I was having difficulty walking from the kitchen to the dinning room.

In the space of less than an hour my leg from just above the knee to my toes on the left leg only, felt like I had a really tight bandage on it. Like it was cutting off the circulation.
It wasnt but I excused myself and went off down to the bed room to investigate. The knee was quite swollen as was the lower part of the leg. I also noticed I had quite a bad measle type looking rash on both legs from thigh to feet.

For the past week or so at night my hips and lower back just ache. I sleep on my side but I cant stand the pressure of staying on my side. When I lay flat I get the pain in the lower back. Let me add here that while Im sitting or walking my hips and lower back are just fine.

The worst thing about it all is is that its only been three weeks since i saw my specialist and I havent a hope in heck of getting into him before my next scheduled appointment.

Can anyone please help shed some light on wht this would of happened all of a sudden.
I have been diagnosed with Sjogrens
with small joint polyarthralgia
Raynaud's
Im on Methotrexate 15mg weekly
Folic acid 10mg weekly
Prednisone 5mg daily
Hydroxychloroquine 200mg daily
Id appreciate any comments please thanks

Wow! When it rains it pours! It sounds like a couple of things are going on! I would not worry about the specialist right now...get to your GP!  My thoughts are it could be cellulitus, and yes it can affect any part of your body. I will try to post a link after I research it for ya;) im being forced to watch shark tale right now so need something to do while on my heating pad:)

I just got over a uti and kidney infection, kidney stone, a flare from sjogrens which caused thrush and a sand papery itchy rash and wind(sacroilliac joint dysfunction)...I think that's it;) my point is...when it rains it pours! You can have several symptoms all coming from different things going on in your body.

I hope you get better soon!

Here's a good site on cellulitus...

http://www.medicinenet.com/cellulitis/article.htm

My phone changed Sijd to wind...lol in my last post. But it means sacroiliac joint dysfunction which is very painful. I just can't get comfortable sitting except in my recliner on my heating pad. It feels like a sharp twinge of pains with a constant ache with muscle spasms.

Trust me you can have many things going on at once and it seems to have a domino affect!

Bopeep, SEE YOUR DOCTOR, please. In high school, one of my classmates had something like this happen to her arm and she lost it the next day. It turned purple and green very quickly.

Please take care of your self.

I think it's better to get this checked out by your Gp or the ER if needed.
Could be a serious circulation problem or swellings of the legs sometimes can point to a bloodclot.
Not to scare you although.

Let us know how you are doing.

I would get to a doc ASAP. I am wondering if you have warm toes??? If you have some cool legs or colder than usual you could be having some circulation issues that could be not so good. There is also a condition called phlebitis that can give the tissues a funny color and cause some swelling.

Whatever you have it sounds serious. Anything that comes on that quickly most certainly is an acute condition that needs docs appt or urgent care at the minimum and possibly even ER. People can get clots in the veins or arteries in their groin that could result in loss of a limb. Not trying to scare you but want you to know that sudden onset issues are often serious. Irish

Wow you guys it all sounds really scary. I am  hearing you all though, so I guess I will make an appointment to see the Dr.
Why I say I guess is that today it really is a lot better, still a bit swollen but no where near as bad as it was Sunday or Monday.

I appreciate you posting that link Sha and yes I was thinking the same thing, It never rains but pours. Oh well such is life with sjogrens I guess.

Joe I certinally hope this isnt as drastic as your class mate.

Thanks again you guys I appreciate it

Bopeep,
Please contact your Dr. Rashes and swelling happen with many situations.  Are you running a fever. Cellulitis  usually is accompanied by a fever.  About 9 years before I was dx with the Sjogren's I had a rash with joint swelling. They never discovered what caused it. It eventually cleared up, but drove me and the GP crazy for about 8 weeks before he sent me to a Rheumatologist.
I will keep your situation in prayer.

Dolly,

Am late replying, but had a computer problem.  So sorry to hear about what's happening to you, but PLEASE get to an Emergency Clinic or even your primary care doc if you haven't already done that.

And please keep us posted as to how you're doing!

Best wishes and hugs,

Lily

Thanks again you guys. The earliest I could get into the Drs is Friday 8.30am which is tomorrow morning. I have everything crossed.

Joe I hope its nothing tragic as well, this  Cellulitis sounds fairly serious.

Catilee2  Yes I have been running a fever, but I am on fairly new medication and am not sure if its that.

Suddenly I am getting hot sweats day and night, then I feel chilled rather than cold, if that makes sense. As soon as I try to warm myself it goes quickly into bad sweats again. Its nothing for me to wake at night absoulutly dripping. For someone that NEVER EVER used to perspire its strange.

Also this soreness is in my left buttock as well, although when I try to press around there there doesnt seem to be any place thats tender, but to sit or lay on it hurts like its bruised.

Has anyone had side effects while on Methotrexate? Im on 15mg weekly.
Please keep  your fingers crossed that the Dr will know immediatly what it is.
Lily who is Dolly??

Hi Dolly
sorry Im not going to be able to shed any light on this for now.
I went to my GP this morning and she doesnt know what it is, she doesnt seem worried about it. BUT, sjogrens is out of her comfort zone. She is hesitant to treat me at all.

All I can do now is keep a close eye on any changes and find help elsewhere if there is.

Its really frustrating when you cant get answers, its also frustrating coming home with no answer, something we all seem to have to get used to.
Thanks for your concern Dolly

Bopeep,

Glad you got to the GP, and good she wasn't too concerned, but still...  sounds like something you really want to keep watching and see if the GP can send you to someone else. Is there another doc you see who treats you? Guess if it was me I'd be curious, too, to find out why all the weird changes!

Take care, please, and let us know. Thanks for posting tonight.

Thanks for reporting on your doctor's visit. At least they are not too concerned about your situation, though. That was everyone's main fear - that it might need immediate attention.

Hoping that you find some answers and you are feeling better soon.
