Title: A different Thanksgiving menu
Post by: Cheryl on November 24, 2010, 08:02:44 PM
I have felt so smug because the Thanksgiving turkey feast at my house was on Saturday.   Everything is eaten, cleaned up, etc.   Our plans for Th. Day (tomorrow) were just to take lunch to my 99 yr old mother-in-law, who is an invalid.   She asked for her favorite meal, fried chicken from KFC.   I thought I had it made!  We would just run by KFC on our way to her house, and no cooking for me!  Then this evening my husband overheard her telling a nurse that she is going to have fried chicken, turnip greens, and banana pudding!  So of course I have been shopping again, and tonight I cooked turnip greens and banana pudding to take to her.  She's a sweetie, so I don't mind. :)
I hope you all have a great day!

Awwwww Cheryl....how sweet of you!

Enjoy Thanksgiving # 2 tomorrow with your mother in law and hubby! She deserves to eat whatever she wants at 99 years old....bless her heart!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Cheryl - I'm sure your MIL will appreciate her Thanksgiving meal - even though it meant a bit more preparation for you.  Knowing you, you were happy to do it!

Will you and hubby stay and eat the meal with your MIL?

Enjoy your day.  Say "hey" to the Colonel for me.   ;)

Cheryl, Maybe she was having some wishful thinking. So nice of you to make her wishes come true. Not many people know how to make turnip greens in my state. Also, hard to find banana pudding anymore. Sounds really good. She deserves to have a good meal as she has served on this earth for a good long time. Bless your heart girl!!Irish ;D

Cheryl that is neat! When my mil was in the nursing home we took her home cooked meals every couple of weekends. On special holidays, we took her out to my mothers senior apartment for family gatherings and home cooked meals. Today we are at my daughters house and we brought the turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, glorified rice and vegies. The family and some of our daughters friends are coming here for dinner.

MIL passed a few years ago and my mom passed this year. We are with our daughter's family.
