Hi All,
I've just been diagnosed with Sjogren's and found this wonderful website so I thought I'd join and introduce myself. I'm 41 and have few other autoimmune problems as well. But had really been struggling physically with my work over the last 2 years. (I run my own garden maintenance and design business) I had wondered about sjogrens as I have lived with dry skin everywhere for about 15 years ). This steadily got worse and then I got the dry eyes, dry mouth...well you guys know how it goes...
I pursued the idea with my local doctor who is fantastic and yesterday I saw a lovely rheumatologist who confirmed Sjogren's Syndrome. He has also taken a heap more blood tests to try and determine if I have primary or secondary sjogren's. I think he is a little bit concerned as I had a speckled ANA test a while ago and I get what I call "jelly legs" from time to time.
Anyway that's my brief intro done ;D
Tracy

Hi Tracy. Welcome.
Hi Tracy,
Let me also welcome you to the SJS World and family! Please look around as you'll find a lot of topics and amazing amounts of information that you just might be interested in. If you can't find what you're looking for, don't be shy and ask away as there is usually someone about that just might be able to help about.
Again, welcome, and I hope to chat with you soon.
Take care of yourself and I know what you mean about jelly legs, it's an awful feeling to be sure.

Hi Tracy.
Welcome to our world.
Hi All,
Thanks for the welcome! I will certainly ask questions as they arise. At the moment I feel really pretty calm about everything. There's no point in me stressing about stuff I can't change and some of this I've already been managing with for about 15 years.
I figured ages ago that sjogrens was my "new thing" going on :D. My gardening work was only ever part time, now its very part-part time and if I get bad news re the other blood tests then I won't be gardening any more. (YAY! Its coming into summer here in Australia which is not pleasant if you're trying to work outdoors so I don't mind on that score!!)
I was actually pleased to get the diagnosis because it validated how I'd been feeling. With the decrease in my outdoor work I have more opportunity to put my life long dream of writing into action and actually use my degree!. One door closes and another opens. :)
I've got great doctors, a girlfriend who is an eye specialist and now this group if I do need a chat - so I'm feeling pretty darn lucky.
Thankyou
Tracy

Welcome Cruz. If you have been reading these posts, you know that there is a lot of good information in this forum. I use alternative therapies to manage my Sjogrens. What works for me may not work for you. Learn what management techniques work for you.
Hi CruzDavidsontt,
Let me also welcome you to the SJS World and family! Keep looking around as you can see, the information here is just amazing (saves the rheumy from having to answer a ton of questions :D).
Can you tell us a bit more about yourself so the members can get to know you better?
Take care of yourself -
Patze
