Last night was the first Christmas lights I've seen lit up on a house this holiday season. These are new neighbors in the neighborhood . . . hmmm, maybe they didn't get the memo to wait until after Thanksgiving to turn their lights on. ;) Just kidding.
I DO like the festive mood that holiday displays of trees, lights, etc. have during the holidays. I don't normally put any of my decorations up until after Thanksgiving. I can understand putting your lights on the house while the weather is decent instead of waiting and doing it once there is snow on the ground - been there, done that. I just prefer not to light them up until after Thanksgiving.
I love all the reds of the holiday season . . red is one of my favorite colors. ;D
The Black Friday ads should be out soon. ::)

Ooooooh Bucky:
This year we are hanging huge 'tree balls' from the big trees in our yard!
We saw them last year in Greensboro, NC, and fell in love.
You take chicken wire, make a big empty ball out of it, wrap a string of 200 lights (the tiny ones) around and around it.
Then, and this is the hard part, you hang them from high branches in big trees, and wire them for electricity.
Some cities use those huge 'cherry pickers' to hang the lights.

It is really really gorgeous.

I;m going to invent a poster that you just pull down like a screen they used to have to show us movies in school,, only it will have a Xmas tre on it,, and you stick a red green and blue bulb behind it,, instant tree,, I did toss some lites in the dogwoods last week,, I used to be real meticilous about it,, but tossing is much easier,, tried to put some signs of the season in the ground, but pounding them in madde my hands scream,, so I quit,, I dont think the roof lites are going up,, I just dont have it, good luck on the chicken wire balls,, never heard of it till now
Elaine,
Those do look pretty! If you decorate with them, make a picture to share with us. :)

We had a couple of nice days last week and got the bulk of the lights up. I do not turn them on until after Thanksgiving, a week from Thursday.
