Title: After you cry, how long does it take you to recover?
Post by: bloodless on October 25, 2010, 11:33:10 AM
I avoid crying. The cost is way to high for that particular release of emotion. My eyes will swell almost shut and they hurt horribly. I get a massive headache and sick to my stomach. I cried yesterday morning and today my eyes still sting, my stomach is still queezy and my muscles are weak. I need a nap with a compress on my eyes, but gotta work.

When I cry I feel and also look like crap for the rest of that whole day. If I cry in the evening I wake up the next day looking and feeling like crap. My eyes swell and hurt; ironically crying makes them feel extra dry, my nose and cheeks get red and I get a terrible headache as well. Not only that but rather than providing a release, crying only intensifies the emotions that caused me to cry ( feeling down in the dumps, grief, frustration, what-have-you) and makes the feeling last longer. Lucky for me I guess that it takes a LOT to make me cry, I hardly ever do it.

I though I was the only one whose eyes stayed swollen for 12-15 hours after crying. No tummy problems and no headaches~~~just the eyes!

Crying is very tough on my eyes and I try and avoid it.  I can produce tears when I'm crying (not every time) but this doesn't lessen the painful effects of bawling.  Cool/warm compresses and gentle care are about all you can do.  Tell others your allergies are kicking up and your eyes are sore.

Oh boy, I sure hate to cry too.  When I do, it's usually short lived (run out of tears), but my eyes will be red, swollen and painful for twelve hours or longer....it's such a mess.

I hate to cry now also.  :'(

It hurts so badly and my eyes feel like someone has stuck needles in them all day.  I cut an onion the other day-- what was bad is that I don't make enough emergency tears to really flush them out. It was like somebody had sprayed tear gas in my eyes.  I looked like I had gone through military training where they make you take off the mask in a gas-filled room.  Uuuugh! I have a hard time really crying anymore.  It takes a lot to get tears and when they come, they spurt in a gush instead of flow.

One of my Dr.s said that I have "toxic tears".  Sounds like the rest of you....I have sore stinging eyes for 2-3 days after a cry.  Sad.  Sometimes it would be nice to have a good cry and release some emotion.

HI Joe,

Now a days I find that I run out of tears after a couple of minutes (very strange); used to be able to cry for hours (at least the length of a good chick flick).

My eyes swell up more than they ever used to.  Used to be just swollen for a bit but now it is all the next day.

Crying doesn't hurt as badly since I've been on Restatis. It used to be that crying dried out my eyes painfully and left them red and sore for half-a-day. It still does to a certain extent, but not nearly as bad.

Funny you should ask this, Bloodless. I was just wondering what ever happened to the good old days, when an old fashioned cry would cure just about anything.

I rarely cry anymore because it just hurts too much.  My eyes burn and get red, and my eye lids are puffier than usual for at least a day.  Sometimes it blurs my vision as well.

My eyelids get puffy for a day ... red and puffy.  but the worst thing is the fatigue.
If I cry, then I'm totally wiped out for hours.
But that's okay.  Before the plaquinel I couldn't cry at all.
I'll take the being tired out. At least I can cry again.  It's a relief.

Two days later and my eyes are still red. At least they're not swollen any more.

That onion thing sucks! I love onions in my cooking. I hate cutting them. I often use one of those slap chop gizmos. I have on from pampered chef with a container. That way I can chop without some much of the onion stuff getting in my eyes. I highly recommend buying one. Your eyes will thank you!  ;D
