Hello Everyone,
I woke up this morning with that feeling of a foreign object in my eye. I am dousing with eye drops but right now it's not going away. I'm blinking but it's still (a kind of irritated spot) there.
Could this be a corneal abrasion? If others get this--what do you do to help it go away? Thank you.
I've been on Restastis for the past month. It doesn't burn when I use it. So far it hasn't helped, but I'm being patient.
I'm also taking fish oil supplements. I use Refresh plus during the day and also Refresh PM at night (but last night I didn't)
Refresh PM is this greasy mineral oil/petroleum jelly ointment.

Hi Livvie,
I get that feeling when my eyes are very dry. It feels like something it touching my eye or is stuck under my eyelid. The only thing I can really do is use drops. If you are able to, try placing the drops in your eyes and keeping them closed for 5-10 minutes.
Erin
Hi Livvie!
Just as Erin said, I also get this when my eyes are extremely dry.All I do is use eye drops, and just like Erin said try to keep them closed a few minutes. It does work.Hope it will work for you also. And if it doesn't, then it could be that you need to try different eye drops, sometimes they stop working and so on.
Gentle hugs.=)
If this continues for a day or two and you think it's an erosion, you might try Muro 128 OINTMENT (not drops.) You can buy it at most drug stores and may have to ask because sometimes it's behind the counter. This used for a couple of days/nights usually takes care of an erosion.
Hi Erin and Shani,
I'm grateful to say that it has since calmed down.
I have experimented with various brands of eye drops. I tried the Systane several times and they burn my eyes.

Thank you very much, Lucy. Yes, I will get that.
Ah--I just saw I misspelled abrasion (in the title). I was typing so fast and it was early in the morning (and my eyes were blinking!)

Hi Livvie:
Foreign object feeling is so typical of dry eye. None of the eye drops including Restasis helped me.
I did find something that worked. TheraLife Eye- Autoimmune. After a while, as long as I take these capsules, no dry eye, no eye drops. Works well for me

YOu can also buy Muro 128 ointment through drugstore.com. It is much cheaper. I buy the box that contains 2 tubes....even cheaper.

What I've been doing since that incident is using the Refresh PM ointment more aggressively (and not skipping).
It's a lot of goop in the eye but it seems to help prevent that foreign object feeling. I am also using the nighttime Theratears.
I'm also staying on the Restasis and am curious to see if it helps.
My eyes at this state: In April I had "falling" tears which could stream down. Now my eyes only get watery in their orbit and burn (when I cry--which I'm always, oddly, happy for! ).
Thank you for all the suggestions. (I've seen the eye doctor four times since April and if it hadn't subsided I would have gone again.)
Pegasus, I take fish oil. But I just have one eye I see out of-and I can't risk not moisturizing it with the various eye drops. But how wonderful the vitamins alone work for you. I feel so grateful when I find something that works (such as the biotene gel which helps get my dry mouth safely through the night.)
