I have heard people here say they have problems with eggs when on Plaquinel.  Others say they don't.  I'd like to know for sure if I have anything to worry about if I try eggs now that I'm on plaquinel.  Our diet is soooo limited because of trigger foods.  I'd like to have something else to eat.  I'm freak'n hungry!

If you post 'YES' ... then please state what happens.  I can handle 'loose poop' but something like hives is another story.

Don't know if it's the Plaquenil, but since I was diagnosed with Sjogrens, and went on the Plaquenil, I've had an awful time with eggs. Never had a problem before.  Eat eggs and within an hour rushing to the bathroom with diarrhea. I'm just stopping Plaquenil, so I'll try again soon.

It's a shame, cause I really love the occasional omelet. And I was looking for a good protein hit in the morning.

I've been taking Plaquenil for nearly 8 years, and have no trouble with eggs. Come to think of it, I have no trouble with any food other than chocolate (migraine trigger) and unfortunately it shows! Still working on losing the last 10 pounds of Prednisone weight, which I thought I had lost, but it snuck back up on me!

Many years ago, I went through about 8 years of what were labelled "cyclic allergies". I'd react to various things, full blown allergic reaction with elevated IgE, the suddenly I could tolerate whatever had been setting me off, and something else would take it's place. During that time, one of the things I reacted to, for about 6 months I think, was eggs...I also had episodes with beef, carrots, white fish but no other seafood, oranges, my favourite shampoo, one particular brand of coated aspirin, and one brand of laundry detergent. This all took place before I started any medication for my Autoimmune diseases, and it stopped on it's own.

Our bodies seem to have their own hidden agenda, and pick some pretty amazing ways of expressing it. All I can suggest is, if eggs bother you, stop eating them for a while, then try again in small amounts.

I have the same problem as does warmwaters.   :(

I don't have problems with eating eggs.

I can't take plaq in the morning. If I do, I'm in the bathroom for an hour or two.

I take my plaq with a full meal later in the day. This works best for me.

Absolutely no diet/digestive issues from taking Plaquenil.

 >:( I know it is the eggs with me, I have eaten eggs all my life until I went onto 2 Plaquenil a day - after eating an egg within 2 hours I am on the loo for about an hour.  I went down to 1 Plaquenil a day for about 6 months as doctor advised me (not the egg reason mind you)  I thought I will try an egg  - and I could eat them and caused me no problem. I had to go back to 2 tabs a day after feeling awful after stopping one for so long, tried an egg and same thing on the loo. So unfortunately I stay away from Eggs. Strange isnt it, at one time I could take them or leave them, but as I cannot eat them I crave for an Egg  :-\
I find also that Plaquenil gives me permanent dreaming all night long, the reason why the doctor took me off one tablet, but the dreams still occurred.

I have had problems with eggs for years they give me terrible pain and then I have to rush to the loo within an hour of eating them. It made no difference with taking Plaquenil or not taking it.

I am just curious if people are having trouble with the eggs because of the high fat content found in the yolk. The white is mostly protein and can be made into omelets. If you find you can eat the egg whites try the Egg Beaters sold in the grocery store. They are made of egg whites with color added to make them more palatble.

I really like them I have mad omelets in a fry pan with them and I have miced them. When I do them in the micowave I had chopped up onions, grated cheese, dried dill, parley and any other spice I am in the mood for. I either place this in a sandwich or place on toast and top with salsa. YumYum. Irisih ;D

I'm like BonusMom, no problems with eggs or any other foods with Plaqenil.

I have diarrea because on Plaquenil, but I see no connection to eggs, because I get the diarrea no matter what I eat. I haven't noticed any difference when eating egg on Plaquenil, because i react just the same without eating egg.

I didn't vote on the poll yet, I think I have to think this over. Cause and effect. Not always easy.

I can eat egg whites, but the yolk seems to make me feel sick to my stomach.

At this point it's looking like 15% or so on Plaquenil have the 'poops' when eating eggs. 
At least it's not hives or something like that.
I want to know what can happen before I try eggs. I'm missing them. 

I have been on Plaquenil for about a month.  At first I had an upset stomach, but I take it right after breakfast and seem to have no more problems.  I eat eggs several times a week and so far, they are ok.

I tried the egg beaters and had the same unfortunate result. My dear primary doctor told me that people can't get diarrhea from egg whites, but when I was talking with a nutritionist, she said "Of course you can".  Don't you love knowledge?
