Title: Okay, enough is enough....
Post by: Patze on September 26, 2010, 05:19:16 AM
Okay, this is it!!!  I just ate a chocolate bar and could not taste it!  I can take the pain, the brain fog, the dryness, and the exhaustion, but this is just too much!  Double UGH (can you tell it's going to be one of "those" days?)!! :( :'(

What little "gift" has Sjogren's given you that makes you sad?

1) Whenever I get sick or feel I am coming down with something, I got a coworker that treats me like I am a Typhoid Mary! She just knows that I have an autoimmune problem that makes it easier for me to get stuff and that is all anyone at work knows.

2) Keeping the anxiety ok as I am starting to find myself wondering what little "present" SJS is going to give me next or what next the drs will find in their monitoring. I just found out lately I have lung involvement with it  :o - not bad but it is there. And winter is coming and I hate winter.

3) Wondering how to prepare for "down the rd". I'm a BIG planner (guess from being a caretaker to my folks for many years)  BUT you can't plan for Sjogrens. I have no one to rely on but myself as my close family has all passed so I am trying to prepare if gosh durn it  I knew how to. >:(

I think they are making the chocolate bars cheaper now. Nothing seems to be tasting as good.  Try Hersheys chocolate syrup. Love the stuff!

That's one of the most cruel 'gifts' I have heard of :'(  Hope it's only temporary :)

Hi Patze,
I have noticed it is harder and harder to find things that I like, that taste good.   I miss hot wings but anything with spice or hot sauce on it tastes like acid in my mouth.  Chocolate does not taste like it used to, but I can still taste it.
I really miss the french bread pizzas but I can't eat those either.  They sit in my mouth like cardboard, and I choke when I try to swallow them.  The good news though is that I keep losing weight and now my cloths are too big and the new ones I get fit really well.
Maybe you could try dipping strawberries and bananas etc in chocolate syrup.  I agree Hershey's syrup is the best.  Of Course I am from PA so I may be prejudiced.
Take care,  I hope you can keep your taste for life and chocolate.

Patze - my, my you start in on the chocolate very early in the morning!!   :o :D  Is this how you jumpstart your day?

Sorry, you didn't taste it.   :(  Maybe, this is just a temporary thing.  Hope so!

There have been many occasions when I'm in the grocery store and I pick up a can of Hershey syrup . . . only to put it back down and walk away.   :'(  Not that I don't want it, I do . . . I'm just trying to be good.   ::)

I think you should do an hourly test . . . .  ;)

Oh no Patze.....I know how you love your chocolate!

Hope its only a temporary thing for you because I agree...that is just TOO much to take away from a person!

Patze,
That stinks!  As a fellow chocoholic, I, too, hope it's a temporary thing for you.

One thing I miss is the ability to eat a normal dinner at night.   My stomach emptying seems OK earlier in the day, but eating a meal at night doesn't work.

:) As a fellow chocoholic, I have started purchasing the big bags of Ghiradrdelli Double Chocolate Bittersweet Chips, 16 chips are 70 calories. Yuk, you think!  :o  Be back in minute...going to put extra bag chocolate back in big freezer.

Am getting them at Sam's in US. Purchased the 60% chocolate w/ginger bars by G at Natural Food Store and paying outrageous price for them compared to the 3 lb. bag at Sam's.  I bought individual small plastic containers and divide the chocolates up in several containers. ONLY put one little container on table w/nut container at a time.

Eat my 16...count them out...    ;D     And, drink my hot ginger tea after eating breakfast. If not satisfying day mentally, find myself eating a few more at another meal during day.  But , now find I do not care for milk chocolate candy bars... a miracle!!!

And, to think I would have walked a mile for a Pepsi a couple years ago... no sodas any more...  Yes, you're right... Life is not what it used to be... and, I'm getting older every day.

Trying my d****** to live as long as my hubby! He appears to be in such better health than I am. Only time will tell! ;)
