I walked a few blocks yesterday. I walked the dog yesterday I have never done this before. Never thought that lazy dog would give me just a workout!!! He was walking so fast,I haven't had a cardio workout like that for a couple years. I felt fine yesterday but today is another story. Legs and bottom of my feet on fire,my hands and arms are numb. I could hardly stand to wear clothes today. Now I have a swollen throat and I am feel hot but have chills. I dont think I am getting sick. I felt so good after walking yesterday. I was hoping to keep it up. Now that is is night time I can feel the pain getting worse. Hope I can sleep I actually slept the whole night yesterday
I hate that "over doing it" kicks my butt!!! I walked a bit on Wednesday and Saturday... each day really just beat me down and the pain was intense. I'd love to be able to exercise and lose a few pounds... but I PAY for it the next day if not that evening.... *sigh*
That's my thing with walking too. My feet burn and my arms and hands go numb. But I can get that way from sitting in a chair sometimes too, so it's worth it.
Sleepy101, You may have gotten some toxins moving out of your legs. If this is what happened you would need to flush with additional water to help your body remove them.
Times like these are why I say, "be kind to yourself" and "take care of yourself".
Sleepy, I have the exact same symptoms when I let my dog take me for too long a walk.
She'd love a good 40 minute run each day, but I limit myself to 10 minutes. Strictly. Or burn, baby, burn.
I need to get her a treadmill. Or my lazy kids could take her out.
I hope you manage to sleep tonight and that the pain goes away quick.
Suzie
I get like that too.
I did find I could build up a tolerance, but, there is a limit to that as well.
Wish there was an answer....all I can say is, I have been doing the same thing for years, and in general....it hasn't done me 'great' harm...on the other hand, 'training' doesn't have a lot of effect on me...minimal effect that is all.
I guess the walk was really good for your dog!
Its a balancing act,,, I do the washing, the laundry room is probably 200 steps away from the living room,,, take out the dog 10 times a day,,, try to walk around the yard, I stay off our road,, I would get killed,, and my legs burn wether I sit or walk,,, my wife just told me,, I wrote ut the check for the electric bill,, your writing is unreadable anymore,,, thanks hon,,, I feel prety low about now hearing that
I walk at least one mile a day twice a day, weather permitting, pain or no pain, because I can't imagine what shape my heart would be in if I don't get the heart pumping and blood circulating, I don't need anymore problems then I already have. I would rather wearout then rustout.
I agree that exercise should be done.
What I have encountered is the loss of training effect. I get to a tolerable level and it never gets easier. I noticed that way back when I did sprint triathlons (which are not sprints by any means). I got better to a point, then it all kinda got static. If you do nothing, you will get worse way faster, and a worse worse.
I exercise daily. I reach over and pick up the remote on my right to change channels and then reach over to the remote on my left to change volume. All this exercise is really sculpting my body! :)
