Title: Legs
Post by: shevonne on September 10, 2010, 08:33:25 AM
Wow!  My legs has been really painful all week.  It from my but on down to my feet; just aches and burn.  I was wondering if any of you find help in getting some special shoes.  I work in an office and I find myself taking off my shoes and putting on my sneakers, although that doesn't seem to help either.  I guess it probably doesn't matter what kind of shoes but thought I would ask.

Any information or guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Some days my legs ache and are numb (at the same time) so bad I can barely walk around the house.  Other days, like today, I can actually go down the basement stairs to do some laundry.  This is a freak'n strange disease.

Yesterday I struglled to change oil in my car,, cleaned it out for the first time since May,, My youngest son called and asked if he and I could go looking at a couple of cars that he saw in the net,, I went over with him,, we spent 3 hours looking at,, test driving and haggling,,, no the boy has no credit,, only bills are his college loans which arent much,, but having no credit and a good job is stopping him from getting a decent interest rate,,, but today I am severelyt paying the price,, everything is on fire,, and I refuse to slow down,,
My legs like yours are burning,, on fire and been sitting in front of a portabel heater all day,,, I really needt o see a gastro,, I;m tired of living on moralax to go to the bathroom,, I just hurt(down there),,
I feel sorry for the people who suffer,, really suffer from this disease,, needless to say some os us more then others,, not to dismiss the problems of others,, its just so dam frustrating,, I am almost reduced to crawling today,, on the way home last night my son commented,, dad your getting worse,, i can see it every time I come home,, you just look and move bad,,, what could I say,, not much,, and he said something else,, dad,, you;ve always been there for me,, you forced me through college, when I wanted to quit,, you guided me through so much and I coudldnt ask for more,, I kow it hurt you to sit thre for 3 hours to go through this car nonsense, but you did it for me,,, I love you Dad,,,, I love you too son,,,

Hi Shevonne,

I know that tennis shoes don't really help all that much, can you try other pairs?  The reason I say that is I can't wear running shoes for anything, and you'll often find me in either cross trainers or walking shoes (I sometimes put in inserts to cushion the walk as well).

Hang in there and I hope that you find some shoes that will help -

My burning legs have been a lot worse this week. I think it might be due to the change in the weather. Any change makes it worse. See if your GP will prescribe the Lidoerm patch before your see the Nuero. It helps some. It is expensive co-pay

I don't weat special shoes but have retired my heals wedges:(

Ice packs and tiger balm helps some. Lower my sugar and fruit intake help a little. I am dying today I wonder if it is because I had two fruit smoothies yesterday.

Thank you for all your replies.  I just soaked in a nice hot bath.  Still feel it a little and took Naproxen.  Im laying down on my bed so it does ease a little but still is achy and annoying.

Shevonne:

My husband has terrible feet/leg/back problems and he has had two docs (one a podiatrist) tell him to wear New Balance athletic shoes.  It has helped him tremendously.

I haven't worn anything but Birkenstocks for about 10 years.  They are just like custom orthotics because they mold to the shape of your feet.  I forgot I had feet when I wore them - no pain at all.  They can be pricey, but I only buy on-line when they have sales.  Then I got PN, but they still help with foot pain.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Hugs,

LeoLady

Ugh.. my legs, ankles and feet hurt quite a bit.  I haven't figure out what helps.  I know that if I push it too far, too much walking or activity--and I pay the next day.  Pain is exponentially worse with more activity.  It causes me to not want to do anything at times.  I am afraid to go on walks, for fear I will have severe ankle pain and won't be able to walk.  Crawling on gravel sounds just miserable and my luck I'd be on gravel or larger rocks and it would hurt like heck!!!

I also get the pain in my hands, wrists and arms.  My purse sometimes causes severe pains in my shoulder.

It is unpredictable, except the activity worsens it.

I can't lift a coffee cup some days, others I can lift 50 lbs no problem.  I hate this...  Has anyone had relief of the pain with medications?  I am just on Tramadol and Naproxen for pain.

Hi
My Rhuemy told me I just had bad posture when I told him my ankles hurt and swell up all the time.
Sometimes it is pure agony and very hard for me at work as I have to stand a lot.
My GP has had enough of this Rhumatologist and arranged for me to see a different one in October so I will ask him about it.
I know what you are going through with this, it can be very very painful and also make you very tired trying to walk about.
Best wishes

Naproxen for pain.
Careful with the Naproxen.  It causes heart rhythm problems that can sneek up on you.

There's a good chance that it was because of the sugar from the smoothies.
Try this Sjorens Foundation recommended diet .. see if it helps.

Well that makes sense re: Naproxen.... I have had a few times where my heart was either fluttering or pounding for no reason... I'll ease up on it and talk to my doctor.
