A silly topic, but I was wondering if this could be from all the medicine or if anyone else has experienced this. I had my hair cut layered and now it has alot more body (even though thinning on top from all this) and even a wave to it, looks great. I have always had perfectly straight stick to my head hair, even when short and layered , it is very weird. Anyway, it's the only positive thing that has happened lately so I thought I'd share. Makes it much easier to go to work, a little mouse, some hand scrunching and no more blow drying. My family is dumbfounded :)
I had the same thing happen to me but after I had my first baby. I went from having super straight hair to having a bit of a wave. I always thought that it was due to hormonal changes or something. Even after my second baby I still have a bit of a wave in my hair if I just let it dry naturally.
Enjoy your new found "WAVE".
Susanr, Wonderful on the eyes that you do not have to blow dry hair any more!! Two GOOD things... :)
Now, cheer me up... since having my hair cut short to do arthritis water class, my hair has become curly to a point of turning up on one side of head .
And, you guessed it, the other side is straight as a stick!!! :o
GOOD THING FOR ME... Hats are coming back in and I have a bunch of them in my closet!
Nap time for me... Enjoy your weekend.............. J :-* y
I dont know whats going on with my hair and scalp,, my hair grows so fast,, and is coming out a lot too,, and I;m getting little sores all through my scalp,, about 10 years ago,, I got psorosis so bad on my scalp that my wife could peel it off my head,, it was miserable,,, I think back if that wasent part of the beginning of this stuff,, But like Inga has pointed out,, I show ZERO markers,,
My scalp is very sore/burning/itching/tingly, feels like sores are there but I don't think there are. More weirdness. I decided to stop coloring my hair, no more chemicals see if that helps. Nothing over the counter has helped at all, it's not from dryness or anything.
Joy - Wow, one side only? You could be a trendsetter! I have seen young pop stars with different do's on either side of the head.
Might be hormonal I guess, when I was in the ER one of the times with severe tummy pain they ran bloodwork and told me I was pregnant (right, I am 55 and post menopausal by 6 years as well as had a tubal ligation!) They would not run any tests until they did an ultrasound showing no pregnancy...
It still comes out as pregnant, but too low to be any cancer. Nobody knows why nor seems to care. My Dr said sometimes happens with autoimmune stuff
Susan, I had that happen to me before I had my tonsillectomy. The first time it was scheduled, they did the bloodwork that morning and came back an hour later to tell me I was pregnant. They sent me home and the next day when I went to the obstetrician, she ordered a test that would actually measure the hormone to see how far along I was and she said that I was not pregnant and she couldn't figure out why the hospital's test said I was since she used the same blood sample at the hospital to run her test.
I've known several people who have experienced curling of their hair in the 'more mature' years.
Well. two people actually.
I tried to Google it, but no luck.

I had bone straight (well 2 sections with a slight wave) for my entire life until I turned about 33. Then... it was as if I suddenly got a perm. Now it fluctuates between wavy and curly... Weird huh? Everyone would ask me, did you get a perm??? LOL
Wonder if it is related!?
I've always had wavy hair and methotrexate straightened it. Yep, one side for me too, Joy. So now I have to blow dry each side diferently to try to get them alike. What a job! Well, at least we have hair. ;D

I'm waiting for my hair to grow in thicker and/or wavy (without me paying $65 for a perm.). I'll be sure to write on here if this happens. My hair is so thin now it really bothers me. I am only 5' so everybody can "see" where I'm sparsely haired. I am letting it grow a little hoping I can get it cut somehow that makes sense. I've always had it short and layered a bit. Oh, this is one of the things that has made the most miserable. Now, I feel so cheesy complaining about thin hair when some people have none. Winter will be here soon in Mich and I can start wearing hats. Ugh.
You had to say winter didnt ya ?,,, I am terrified of it,,I am terrified of the cold it will bring,, that is my worst fear,,, >:(
I got my first bald patch in the back a long, long time ago at age 17.
Nowadays I either use a clipper on the whole thing and sometimes shave it off after that.
It's very liberating and I'm actually relieved not to have to deal with hair anymore. Sure
makes showers fast.
Interesting. I thought it was only me. I'm 53 and as a child and young adult had straight hair. In my late 30's it was wavy and in the last 5 years or so it is curly. I straighten it now. I seem to lose quite a bit of hair, but it is still quite thick.
Usually when the hair texture changes, its hormones. Mine was always very soft, now in this menopause nightmare from hysterectomy, its getting very course and wirey.
and im losing most of it...i guess the medrol im on doesnt help either..

Hi :)
I've always had dead strait hair but the last couple of months the fringe/bangs have started to curl alarmingly. Have an awful problem trying to get them to point the way it's meant to. I thought it was maybe because grey hairs are starting to come through and they have a different texture.
Take care - Scottie :)
Maybe the individual hairs got thinner with age and thus more easy to curl without the thickness of each strand? Age can change the texture of the hair making it finer.
I always had hair that was so straight it wouldn't hold a curl at all. Then, after I had my kids, it's now quite wavy and has lots of body. I just started on Plaquenil, so I don't know about any hair loss yet. I have noticed, however, that it has gotten thinner the last several months.
I have also noticed acne/pimples on my scalp. I have never had these in the quantity and size that I currently do. Not sure what is up with that.
Oh well, more things to discover about these illnesses...lol
