Okay all, here is something to be goofy with, what kind of cell phone do you have (if any)?
Patze
no cell phone here.
CELL PHONES 2 Samsungs... not fancy...Lite weight AND, handy as it gives both of us the DAY, DATE and TIME...
Please, we're not the only COUPLE that forgets what the date of month is, especially what day of the week it is; Are WE? :-\
It's a JOY to have them as hubby is (((REALLY))) hard of hearing and we use them to locate each other, sometimes in the house!! ::)
OH, it's no fun getting old... Well its not the Smiley icon, Wink, Cheesy, Grin, or Angry...How bout SAD :( :(
PATZE, It is not hard for me to be 'goofy'...goes with my territory! ;)
Sometimes I wish I didn't have one either Ohiocat, but these days (in my area), it pays to have one of those things.
Glad to hear that you're goofy Joy! Nice to be in such good company (shhhh, let's not mention forgetting dates and times! ;))!
I have an HTC, anyone else with one? Or like Joy, an Samsung (kidlet has one as well)?
Patze
Hi :)
A Samsung here. I think they are used here more than there. Lots of text messages.
Take care - Scottie :)
Whole family has Tracfones. No contracts, no monthly bills, just add minutes every 90 days (or buy a 1-yr. card) and you're good to go. ;D
Mine is a pay as you go phone. I top it up and use it till the credit gets low and then top it up again. I don't use it all that often but it's handy if the car breaks down away from home.
I wouldn't swap it for a contract phone. They cost way more than I spend.
Take care - Scottie :)
Scottie . . I agree. We use to have a "contract" phone . . we were paying $1,000 a year to just have the phone to use when we traveled. I convinced hubby we were wasting money and we went to the pay as you go phone. So instead of paying $1,000 for a phone we hardly use, we only pay $240 a year total (for 3 family members) for our phones. ;D
I couldn't see paying for all the bells and whistles for a phone that we hardly touched. We have only had a few "issues" through the years where we haven't had enough "bars" to use the phone, but those are few and far between any more.
Bucky
Bucky, I'd love to have a 'pay as you go' phone though have not been able to get our kids to be of any help. They all seem to have contract phones and ...................
If you will please be kind enough to suggest where I look for one.
Have seen something at Wal-Mart but did not know what type to ask for.
I'm not a cell phone person and only use mine when I want to make a call.... ;)
Thanks, Bucky, any help will greatly appreciated. :-*
I have a LG Viewety. It has a good 5 megapixel camera which I wanted it for. I am on contract and have unlimited texts as I use text more than calls.
I have a Pantech (AT&T). Even though half the time I can't get it out of my purse in time to answer it!
I am not sure what kind, its a little silver one. I always get yelled at for never answering! I don't have a blue tooth, so my excuse is, I must have been driving:)
I have an HTC Hero/android with Sprint. I used to have an iPhone with AT&T but the coverage in my area is crap and AT&T is waaaay too expensive!
Sunshine - I know exactly what you mean!! I very seldom get a call that when I do and finally realize that it's my phone making that noise - it's been going off for a bit. LOL ::)
A couple weeks ago I had a friend visiting from out-of-state. We went and played bingo. I meant to turn my phone on vibrate but forgot. My brother in another state sent a text message and my phone goes off. Same thing . . by the time I realize it's me - this lady sitting behind us says quite loudly . . . "get your phone!" . . and I said . . . "I'm working on it!". ;)
Bucky
Hi TW, I too just switched over to Sprint from Verizon myself and am loving the new HTC phone (android). Whew, it's like going from the stone age with the old LG to the new age in one easy step! :)
Patze
I have verizon,, and its getting out of hand,, I would love to get rid of my land line, but half the time we dont get any bars here in the valley, so its my land line,, cell and internet all through verizon,, I cringe when the bill comes monthly
I have always had Nokia phones and I really like them...I use AT&T contracts...have the texts and the whole bit.....its not too bad price wise! I always have to have new "toys" when it comes to technology! ;D
I have an LG Shine, but I don't like phones with the screen on the front. They get all scratched way too easily.
I'm the same as Bucky..........a Tracfone.........(usually free or $10). It's pay as you go. Instead of having to buy minutes every 90 days to keep it active, I spring for a one year card and you get certain # of minutes and don't have to buy more unless you run out. I only use my phoone for emergencies or when traveling, so I always have more than enough minutes. Thats pretty cheap phone service=$2.00/week. Lucy
When I travel anymore, I like to have a cell phone for emergencies.
Problem is the cell phone plans they have are just waaay too expensive. I just don't talk that much. LOL
I tried Net10 and it was a pc of junk. I kept getting kicked off and minutes were only good for a month. I now have a TracPhone and so far love it. 8) I went on their website and got one for ca $19 w/10 minutes, batteries, charger, shipped free w/a 60 minute card and Double minutes option everytime I buy minutes. So I got 120 minutes which I have to use prior to 1/11/2011 which works Great for me. I pay as I go and no monthly fees. So far I have not had any problems phoning anyone w/this one.
I like a cell phone for emergencies and convenience, period.
HTC Droid Incredible. I love it. I named it Gael.
I've tried TracPhones years ago and kept breaking them....it got old and tiring. Finally went to a contract and though more expensive, it met my needs (single parent and all). Took the plunge again with a different company, it's as differant as night and day, and about twenty dollars cheaper a month.
Hi Malditogrillo, yep, now have a HTC as well, and sure do love it (when I started to figure it out that is! ;D).
Patze
I have the iPhone 3GS. Love it!
Has anyone tried Skype, Vonage, or Magic Jack?
I currently use magic jack. It works well. What I like about it is when I was in Japan, my wife could call my magic jack number and it would be just like making a local call.
Seeker.
Hi Joe,
I was thinking of dropping Verizon land line for Vonage, got to be as good as or better (dropped Verizon wireless recently as well). Anyone have any experience with it?
Patze
Boy,Patze, thanks for starting this thread. We are using Unicel and they just got bought out by AT&T and I have been searching the web trying to find out whether to stay with AT&T or go with another carrier. We had good luck with the Unicel and rarely had any dead space since they put up more towers. It covers a 4 state area and that is really about all we need.
We just had Verizon move into our area---had to be the last spot on the planet lef without Verizon---anyway, I have checked with them and I just keep thinking that they are too spendy. They all are too spendy as far as I am concerned. At first we hardly used them and now I find myslef using it a lot more. I do a lot of my long distance business calls and making doc appt on it. Would love to get rid of my land line but when I talk a long time I would rather use a land line.
Anyone have anymore to say about Tracphone. I am very interested and the manager of the Radio Shack in town told me to come in when I was ready and he would tell me what numbers to check on the phone so that I was guaranteed the better tower coverage. Just seems like a very good way to pay for a phone.
What is so neat about the HTC Droid???? Sounds like Star Trek talk. Irish ;D
Oh my gosh Irish, it's like having a computer in your hand...whew, the things it can do in a few clicks is just amazing.
Patze
Irish - you do need to watch which Tracfone you get as not all of them will work in a certain zip code. We found this out a couple times when we bought one at Walmart. We now order direct via Tracfone's website. You enter your zip code and they will show you which phones are available for that area. (Maybe, that is what the Radio Shack guy will do too - I don't know.)
We've only had a few occasions where we didn't have any bars. Usually if you change positions or get near a window then you're good to go.
I'm trying to think how many years we've owned our Tracfones . . . I would say at least four, if not five years.
You can buy as few as 60 minutes for $19.99 which you then will have to add more minutes in 90 days - depending how much you use your phone, if you run out of minutes before the 90 days, you would have to add more. Or, you can buy a year card, a double minutes card (some phones come with this feature automatically), and various other minute increments.
Good Luck.
Bucky
