Title: This is my first time on the Forum - What a great resource
Post by: pear53 on May 09, 2010, 04:42:37 PM
I was diagnosed with fibro almost 20 years ago.  But, I just don't seem to get relief from the pain.  Went back to my rheumatologist and now he believes I have Sjogren's too.  My biggest problem continues to be my hips and legs.  Is this a sign of Sjogrens? My eyes are dry but not horrible, but lately my mouth is terribly dry...I thought it was a result of just starting to take cymbalta....but guess it is Sjogrens.  I look forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Hi Pear,

Let me welcome you to the SJS World and family!  Please do look around as there are tons of topics that you might find interesting.  If you can find what you're looking for using the search engine on the upper left part of this page, don't be shy and ask away as there is usually someone about that just might be able to help.

I'm curious, you mention that your rheumy thinks you might have SJS, did he say why by chance?  Has your bloodwork come back positive for SSA/SSB maybe?

Ah, fibro, got to love that critter!  Just teasing as I've been diagnosed with it about five years ago now, and I've been told to try Cymbalta, I haven't gotten around to it yet - have enough issues with Lyrica and Flexeril.

Again, welcome and I hope to chat with you soon.

Take care of yourself -

Patze

Hi Pear . . . . welcome.  As Patze said . . there's lots of information here on the forum.  I hope you find it helpful to you in your Sjogren's journey.   Many of the autoimmune diseases have overlapping symptoms, so it is quite possible to have more than one.  I have primary Sjogren's with high RA numbers (but no RA at the present, knock on wood).

Hi Pear,

Welcome to Sjogrens World from me too!

I'm another one who has been double gifted with both sjogrens and fibro...how lucky can you get? NOT!  ;) It is true that the symptoms of both overlap so much that at times it hard to tell where one ends and another starts...so your best bet is to have a great doc who is willing to treat the symptoms of both!

Read all you can here as there is a ton of information to be found in these posts, not to mention a lot of support and friendship!

Welcome!

Pear, Welcome to the forum. Do your research on everything before you try it. As you can see I have taken an alternative path.

Fibro, diabetes, CNS, lupus, SJs, arthritis - managing and still fighting

Hey Pear and Welcome., You might want to add this to your thinking. Diagnosed w/sjogrens 15 yrs. ago and had severe dry eyes but have been able to get by with the salvia I have by massaging my glands.

Dry mouth has surfaced now that I started taking Cymbalta middle of last year. C leaflet says side affect can by dry mouth. >:(
Also, know Zanax which I take has given me no problem.

Am to see rheumy in couple of weeks and plan to bring this issue to his attention.
