Title: Swollen puffy eyelids
Post by: kentishmaid on May 04, 2010, 06:50:00 AM
Good afternoon all,

I wake up each morning with painfull and very swollen upper eyelids, does anyone else out there have this symptom ?
It usually gets better as the day goes on and goes completely by the evening.

Thanks

My right eye is worse than my left, and both have been bad this past month because of pollen (I assume). I have been getting lots of inflammation and corneal edema, too, so I bought some Muro 128 5% saline ointment this week and it seems to help.

For me the puffiness makes it harder to see out of that eye because I can't open my lid fully.

I'm thinking maybe I should try cold packs to reduce the swelling. Have you tried that?

Could be allergy- that's my guess.  You maybe allergic to something in the bedding, pillows.

This year, we have record high pollen count. But it sounds like you have this all the time - is that right?  If it is pollen, washing your hair before going to bed may help.

Hope this is helpful!

Hi, I also wake up with swollen puffy eye lids they don't hurt but are very swollen. I thought mine was from the night eye drops I use the gel kind, so I switched brands and still wake up like that everyday. Mine also go away by evening. I plan on asking the eye doc at my next appt.

Hi

Swollen eye lids drove me mad for a number of years. It was only when an eye specialist suggested it might be my feather pillows that the penny dropped - duh! I ought to have known, with all my allergies, that feathers would be one. Since I've used foam pillows, the eyelids have been fine.
