Has anyone tried a tempur-pedic bed it is supposed to relieve the pressure points when you sleep?

I have had one for about a year. Actually, it is a little too firm for me. I sleep on my side and when I'm in a flare, I have pain in my hips so bad I can't sleep. I usually get better sleep on our couch (a Natuzzi microfiber--which I guess they don't make anymore but it doesn't have springs of any kind in it). Be really careful with any mattress with springs. We bought a very expensive Stearns and Foster 2 years ago and the salesperson ASSURED me that the coils were wrapped and padded with plenty of foam on the top - worst time I've ever had! We have spent thousands on mattresses in the past 2 years but Tempur Pedic wasn't the answer for me. Just be careful! Trying it out in the store isn't the same as sleeping on it! Remember the story about the princess and the pea? She could feel that pea with a whole pile of mattresses. Don't know the answer for us???? Good luck. Diane
Honestly, I thought it would be great, but after sleeping in one for a while I changed my mind. As i would sink into the foam I found that i could turn over easily. Just too weak I guess to move around after sinking a little. It was easy on the pressure points, but I found I can use extra pillows. Some days (nights) however, not even a feather bed would relieve some of the pain in the hips, etc...lol
Good luck finding what works for you.
Love my Small Tempur Pedic pillow for my head!! Comes in S-M- L. Bought M, 1st at local store; 2nd, small at TempurPedic Website online. Has also helped to lower my shoulders to touch mattress. A Keeper!! :)
Mattress is a Select Comfort that has a pressure control system.
Plus, Have several small pillows different sizes I made to 'shore up' my hips and rib areas. Even put one under a wrist sometimes.
Have had back/spine issues for years and years.... Sleep with a 'cheap pillow' under legs to relieve pressure on lower spine/back. Just trash it when it becomes soiled.
And, with Fibromylsia and recent peripheral neuropathy diagnosis in lower legs, ankles and feet, plus widespread osteoarthritis, I turn the "cheap pillow' longways and elevate lower and upper legs.
I'm rambling...dry2010. Up at top of the posting page is a Search box, type in Tempur Pedic as there was a lengthy 'thread' as is called here, about Tempur Pedic mattresses in the past few months.
My wife and I had one, we bought it when we were working opposite shifts and we both felt it was the best mattress ever. I found I could sink in very comfortably in about two minutes. Anyway, we got on the same shift and started sleeping together again and found we would create a warm spot between us that made a big hole. Sometimes climbing out of that hole was like climbing a mountain. Long story short we sold it to a single person who loved it.
To be fair we don't keep beds longer than 3 years. The tempur pedic lasted about six months.
I love mine! It helps my pain so much! I have the medical grade one though with the adjustable frame. The insurance paid for it since I needed a hospital bed. Hope that helps!

We don't have a Tempur Pedic bed, but I bought a 3" thick, high-density memory foam pad and it has helped A LOT. It does tend to be a bit warm in the summer, but I will take that over feeling like I got hit by a truck when I get up in the morning (I have the hot-cold/ hot-cold thing going on all night long anyhow).
I have a tempur pedic pillow which I dearly love. I carry it everywhere I travel. I tried the bed. It was very comfortable but I didn't buy one. I could not turn over easily in it. It was an ordeal just to move.

Trust someone can find one thing in this 'thread' that can become helpful from him or her. Got time, please read...
Hubby and I have not slept in the same bed for many years. ;) He has the queen size bed and special foam mattress that is reversible, soft to firm by flipping it over. It's probably 20 yrs. old BUT says he loves his 'bed setup' just like it is!!! ;D
A Little Something Extra Thrown In: Purchased kids the Select Comfort in queen size and each has his/her separate control. He keeps his set on firm and her side looks like she's sleeping in a hammock!!! We are all different... and so does that bed LOOK different. :o
In my area, I have switched to a twin, ornate metal, 3-sided metal daybed that has 3-4 adjustable heights. With the Select Comfort mattress, during the night I can increase or decrease the firmess with ease and this will change the pressure points on especially lower back and hips. While also taking pressure off the rib cage and shoulders.
ONLY THING THAT APPLIES TO THIS THREAD IS I HAVE A TEMPUR PEDIC PILLOW...JUST BE SURE AND GET THE CORRECT SIZE. CAN FIND INFO ON THEIR WEBSITE.
I have a CPAP which I HATE since it hinders my ability to adjust my bod to any degree and with the OA and Fibro, sleeping becomes a luxury...
ARE YOU STILL WITH ME? Have tied a blanket at one of its corner's to the bottom of the bed's center rail. If I need to get up at night and try to pull up ON THE SIDE RAIL with my right arm and 'FEEL'the muscles, ligaments, tendons trying to tighten up anywhere to potect spinal area. I reach for my blanket that has a different feel to it(no light in room) and pull with both arms, myself straight up in the bed. Square around with feet to floor and reach for my little flashlight and off I go to pottie.
BELIEVE ME, IT HAS SAVED ME SOME EXTENDED TIMES OF DEALING WITH PAIN ... and, I know many of you folks understand back issues... and I just had to 'rethink' how to get out of bed.
ANY OF THIS 'TURN THE LIGHT ON FOR YOU' AS HOW TO MAKE LIFE A LITTLE EASIER FOR YOURSELF? IF SO (((GIVE ME A SHOUT BACK))
Hi Dry2010
I currently sleep on a foam mattress. There are no sleepless nights as I love my bed. I cannot call it tempur pedic as it isn't the trade mark "tempur pedic" because it was constructed wrong for me. I layered my own mattress to conform to my needs.
I would suggest you purchase a topper pad first to see if you even like sleeping on foam. It can be very temp sensitive (hot / cold), so try a least expensive route first.
