You are home alone sitting there working at the computer. You have that eerie feeling that someone is watching you! At times you just have this sixth sense that says something is up. Suddenly . . . you jump - you can see, and now know, that you ARE being watched!! You would call for backup - but, nobody is there to help - you'll have to do this alone. You try not to move too quickly as to scare off the perpetrator, but you need a weapon. Slowly . . . slowly, you rise from you seat. Carefully you make your way across the room. You reach up, grab your weapon and slowly make your way back to the computer area. Careful . . . you don't want your victim to run. You can feel your heart racing - you will have to move quickly, and you'll have to be accurate. You raise your arm, take aim and tell your victim to say his prayers. Then, it's over.
The mystery . . . how do these spiders (what did you think I was talking about? hehe) suddenly "appear" out of nowhere? You don't notice them crawling along the floor - the just appear out of thin air. Some of those little critters can run . . . and fast!!! It's not like you could give them a "lift" on the flyswatter and take them back outside to the great outdoors. Nope, it's all or nothing.
For those of you who love spiders . . . I'm sorry . . . I do not!! Even though I am a gazillion times larger than them, I do not like them. They scare the heebiejeebies outta me!! If they stay outside (where they belong), I don't have a problem with it - it's when they come inside and invade MY territory that there's a problem. We've had some of those really large wood spiders in our garage . . . ewwwwww. You get the can of Raid out for those puppies!!
Okay . . . take a deep breath . . . hold . . . exhale . . . repeat 10 times. All is calm in the kingdom once again . . . . carry on. ;D

I've said a number of times, I'm scared of most EVERYTHING, E V E R Y T H I N G!!!! Just reading your post Bucky makes me want to shut down for the night, my laptop is down for now, power cord broke so I'm sitting in the den at the computer with the lights out tv on, now feeling like something is crawling all over me so I do believe I've had enough for the night, picked the wrong thread I guess! I have to tell you about one other spider encounter I had inside the house. In the bathroom our shower curtain has leaves and berries on it. I was using "the facilities" and am looking at the shower curtain. I notice along the bottom, positioned on a leaf there is a BIG spider (size of a half dollar) . . . hmmm, I don't remember seeing that on the curtain before (it blended in really well). I ALMOST touched it when I realized it was REAL!! :o Oh my goodness . . . . ummmm . . . . finished up real quick and yelled for my hubby to come into the bathroom. He takes one look at it and says "holy cow, look at the size of that thing!". He goes and gets a can of bug spray and knocks him off my curtain (at my request . . didn't want that bug spray on my new curtain), sprays this dude and he's flipping and flopping all over the place. Where did this spider come from?? The only thing I can think of is they come up the heat vents from the basement (unfinished). The heat vent in the bathroom is right next to the tub where this shower curtain is hanging. Ewwwwwwwww

I would have completely lost my everlovin mind, I just would have went blizzsurk!!!! Come to think of it I did scratch most of that night to the point I have welpts on my face and legs.
I'm sitting here now doing the same. I just don't know what it is about ALL bugs, ALL rodents, ALL cats, Most dogs, some fish and even some humans that freak me out, but they do. If I had saw that spider, especially that size there is no way I would have stayed in that house, probably for weeks until I was totally convinced it was the one and only one there and then I would be jumping everytime I see something out of the corner of my eye.
I know I need help!!
My husband was bitten by a spider a few years back and it causes a plug out of his leg to rot, same thing happen to my brother when we were kids. So I can not be conviced they are harmless. I HATE ALL BUGS!!!!

That's for the rest like me who didn't know what a STINK BUG was, I had to look this up. I have heard of it before, but thought it was just something made up, I have never seen one before that I know of and the thought of a bug so small causing a smell.

Some of those Asian beetles stink too! Ewwww, they don't taste good either!! :o ::) They usually invade us by swarms in the fall when the crops are being harvested.

Best to do this just before a rain or lightly water it in with a spray nozzle-type hose.

NATURE LOVER THAT RESPECTS OTHERS FEELINGS :-* Our 4 grandkids spend vacation time with us in summer and love to play in the hay barns and other outbuildings. We have sleepovers in my little 2-room cabin by the creek next to the big meadow.
All enjoy the spider named appropriately, Writing Spider, especially, the six-year old. He and his daddy researched the big yellow and black one that can build a beautiful web in just one night. Grandson gave a report by the fireside one night as to what he and his daddy had learned during their research together. WONDERFUL MEMORIES ARE CREATED ONE AT A TIME...
Has anyone ever seen a Hummingbird Moth, YES moth? Older grandson and I had the privilege to see one on the hostas after going to McDonalds for a late night cone of yougart... I SO LOVE NATURE AND ITS BEAUTY! :)

There's a lot of things in life I have never seen and these bugs are some of the things hope to never see!
My problem was June bugs! Those things used to destroy my roses and crape myrtles until I went to Lowe's and found something, a white powder, don't know the name of it right off.

I kind of like to watch birds flying as long as they are far, FAR away from me, but for some reason at my church each and every year that building attracts insane birds. They build nests by the doors and are very protective, these things fly as if they are wanting to attack even when they are playing together circling the building.
I have complained about them to the point it's a running joke among some of the men that do outside work there. These birds have chased me as I walk for the mail, the first time I thought it was just my imagination " Aw, they were just playing and got too close while going in the same direction as me", but after having them fly towards my head many times since I KNOW they are intending to do this, now I drive to the mail box!
They are about to go on my hate list!!

Thank You Joy, it's just that I have had some really BAD experiences with animals and bugs! I don't like to be chased, shoot if I don't want to be bothered, leave me alone, those things invade my space too much!
I used to have a dog as a child it wandered to me as a puppy it approached very slowly and I took to it. My husband has a dog, I like him well enough, but don't like the running and jumping on me when he sees me. I even tried to train him as a puppy to stay inside, but that didn't work, so he stays outside and I only go in his area if I have to be the one to feed him, cause I will take care of him if I have to. He's really a sweet dog, just jumps too much for my likings.
Yes, my life is very interesting to say the least! :) My neighbors on both sides have dogs, hugh ones that seem to be too interested in me, one chased me three weeks ago, I know the owers heard me yelling, thank GOD they are moving! I prayed today when I was coming home I get some really good ones to move in without dogs.
What is up with people that assume that everybody wants to be bothered with their dogs and cats???????? Some of us have hangups!
Joy, YES I have seen a hummingbird moth! I had never heard of one before and I had one fly right up next to me when I was sitting at by a flowerpot a few years ago. I thought--that is the tiniest hummingbird I've ever seen! Then I was like - Wait! that critter has antennae! Hummingbirds don't have antennae!!?? My friends saw one last year and took these pics! I'm sitting here at the computer this morning and then all of a sudden I see this quarter sized black spider coming down the wall. Ewwwww . . . . I do not like spiders!!

It fell down somewhere near the computer desk. I gingerly picked up some things to see if I could find it, nope, no luck.
Then, this critter had the nerve to come down right in front of me and the computer!!! :o He went running around all the papers on top of the computer and I've lost him again! >:(
Oh great . . . now, I'm going to have to keep wondering where he is all day and be on the lookout for him. Grrrrrrrrrr

Nothing quite so scary here, but the mosquitoes came out in full force yesterday...at 3:10 PM to be precise. >:( Because we had so much more snow this winter, of course we have much more water for the mosquito's to breed.

I saw that on a TV show a while back, creeped me out. I don't like spiders, but I have no qualms about killing them, no matter how big. Now if I ran across one that was the size of my German Shepherd, then I'd run. ;D
I was doing something to my fence/gate, and noticed a black widow in a crevice. I pondered how many times I stuck my hands near it, and promptly killed it. :)
Here it is 11:30 p.m. and that critter has evaded me three different times today and I STILL haven't caught him!!!
He better NOT venture down the hallway towards the bedrooms tonight!! :o
There's a lot of black items here at the computer desk - keyboard, mouse, stapler, tape dispenser, calendar, etc. . . . lots of places for him to "blend in". Believe me, I keep looking and looking everywhere I put my hands!!

This morning when I came to the computer desk I did see him and when he saw me, he went a runnin!! Then, I can't believe this . . . . this is the honest truth . . . . he ran behind the pencil cup on the desk, then, kept peeking out at me!! HONEST!!! Actually, it was kinda funny . . . he'd peek around the pencil cup and then hide behind it again. I don't know if spiders can "hear", but I told him, "yeah, buddy - I'd hide too if I were you - cause if you come out, I'm getting you today!!!".
I haven't seen him since! ::) I'm not going to dig in the area where the pencil cup is.
Believe me, I keep looking all over this desk though - waiting for those beady little eyes to come out of hiding.

Okay have you seen the commercial were 3 people, one girl and 2 guys are sitting and eating lunch and one guy lays his phone down. The one girl looks down and sees a spider, she jumps up and screams, the other guy picks his shoe up and beats the heck out of the phone while the guy whose phone is being beaten looks at the other two. It is all about a phone. ::)

I just don't know what it is about women and spiders and mice. I guess I was scared of them many years ago but when my hubby traveled and was gone a lot I learned to take care of a lot of things.
You should hear my DIL scream and run when she sees a spider----and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree --- you should see her daughter run and scream when she sees a spider.
I am assuming that hummingbird moths are different from the sphinx moths. The spinx moths are fun to watch. They love the flowers by the name of Four O'Clocks and will sip at the necter while we watch.
What part of the country do you live in that has hummingbird moths?????

I had a chuckle while watching Tease this morning on the web cam. For those of you who are not following this, Tease is a mare who is very pregnant, and is about to give birth any day now.
Anyway, as I'm watching Tease push around her hay I see a spider crawl crossing the camera lens. I guess the spider wanted to get its fifteen minutes of fame as well! :D
