Title: Seems so appropriate
Post by: Linda196 on March 23, 2010, 01:39:44 PM

If you're having trouble reading the text in the cartoon, it says, "I don't know what your problem is, but I bet it's hard to pronounce"!

I wonder if Maxine has SjS?

Hilarious! :D When people ask me what it is I have, I have to say it a couple times and they still can't pronounce it.

That is the perfect picture..maybe we should make it into a poster...LOL  It is weird because when people ask me what I have and  I tell them Sjogrens they look at me weird and ask what is that? They then stand back a little as if it might be contagious...LOL So I repeat the name and say it's an autoimmune disease..like Lupus...and when I say Lupus, they know what that is.  I have also explained Sjogrens by saying well you know how with AIDS you have no immune system...well my immune system is the opposite..it is soooooo strong that it is attacking my body.  They seem to get it after that maybe becuse I am a preschool teacher and I am a preschool teacher and am use to explaining things to 4 year olds. Love the explanation of it Sleeepy! It must be rough being a preschool teacher and having Sjogren's. I was going to college for that but did not complete it, kinda glad I didn't. I don't know how I would have done it.

I first thought it was a visual image of brain fog!! Being soo confusing and all! ::) ::)

It kinddanreminds me of how jumbled my mind is doing an episode.

Good one Linda! I love Maxine!

I have used the comparison to Lupus or MS as well and I have also explained it the same way that sleeeepy does...people seem to get it that way!

In our family we always joked that my late MIL could be Maxine's twin . . just put a ballcap on her and a cigarette in her hand.  Christine had white, curly hair just like Maxine's and wore some interesting clothes combinations.   :o  I guess when you're 90 yrs. old you can do whatever you want to do!!   :D

Maxine provides lots of smiles and chuckles.   ;D  YOU GO GIRL!!
