Title: Spring is here!
Post by: Cheryl on March 19, 2010, 02:52:46 PM
The weather was beautiful here today!   The ground is still moist from recent rain, bulbs are up, and my flower beds were calling out to me.  I weeded and mulched 2 of them.  It felt absolutely wonderful to be outside and have the energy to work for a couple of hours.

I needed to go on record here while I'm still on my high;  tomorrow I may only be able to moan.  :)

Happy Spring, everyone!

It was a beautiful day here in Florida, too!  I had a nice walk on my lunch hour in the sun and the temps were perfect.  I was kind of aching all over afterwards, but it was nice while it lasted.   :)

It was a lovely morning in west Yorkshire. The moors were pretty spectacular. Tonight, the monsoons have arrived!

Ohiocat,

Not a silly at all as I have often wondered exactly the same thing...but they must be beautiful as everyone talks so highly of the sight of them!

It was a beautiful spring day here in south Louisiana with just a touch of coolness in the air.  But as always stick around and the scenery will change.  By tomorrow it will be cold again and back into the thirties.  By Tuesday or Wednesday back up again.  Crazy weather as usual around here.

I loved being out there yesterday, it was almost heaven.  Same here Ohiocat, the moors must be beautiful, and I'd love to see them too!

It's almost official...spring starts at 5:32 PM GMT, so (because of DST) it starts in my area at 2:32 PM and it's already a beautiful day, temps climbing for just above 0oC when I got up, to nearly 7oC now.

The moors - sorry, I just took for granted people would know what I meant. How to explain? Where I live is very green and hilly. The moors are rugged open green places where, in the right season, they are covered in heathers. In the winter, they are very bleak, and open.  In the summer they are full of walkers, children flying kites and families enjoying the open spaces. I expect you have similar places, just that they have different names. If you google Ilkley Moors or the cow and calf rocks, I'm sure you will see what I mean.

Something is terribly wrong with this picture!!   :o  Today is the official start of spring.  However, our current temperature is 35 degrees, wind gusts 20 - 25 mph, with a rain/snow mix!!   ::)  Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

There were a couple days this past week that were really nice - mid 60's.  Today . . . another story!!    :(

Although, it really doesn't surprise me . . . . 18 yrs. ago tomorrow, the same kind of weather showed up on my wedding day!!   :o

Enjoy the sunshine - if you are lucky enough to have some today!!   ;)

Happy Spring everyone!!   ;D

Well here in Eastern Iowa it snowed overnight so I woke up to see 2 inches of snow on the ground (didn't stick to the driveways or roads). BUT I did see a robin today who was probably thinking he should have delayed his travel plans.  ;) :D

Today is SUPPOSE to be the 2nd day of Spring . . . I'm still waiting for it to show up!!!   ::) It's been cold (in the 30's), wet and cloudy today.

Keeping my fingers crossed that warmer, sunshine days are in the real near future.   8) If it arrives this week, that would be great!!

Have a good week everyone . . . . .

I hope that it heats up soon for you lady, you sure need a break today!

Take care of yourself -

Ever stood and smelled the wonderful fragrance of your daffodils in rain and snow? Well, I did today in TN. >:(  As they bowed their little heads they seemed to be saying, take me in with you. ;)

Hubby has already made early garden. Taters in the ground, w/onions, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. Oh, and forgot the lettuce bed with radishes.  Ever eaten Rape greens?  ;D Don't laugh...its a delicious green full of nutrients.

Well, off to watch our #1 rated Lady Vols play in the NCAA basketball tournament.  GO LADY VOLS!!!

Hi Everyone,

The weather has finally gotten better here too. No more freezing or even 40 degree nights. I can't believe what a cold winter we had this year. Yea, I know, I know, it doesn't compare with some of you, but for Florida it was terrible. I know that Salsen, over there in Louisianna understands what I am talking about because we complained to each other all winter, lol.

Hey Bucky, glad to see some nice weather finally made it up your way.  ;D  I remember winters in the north and I never want to see one again, brrrr.

I sure have missed you guys.  :(

Hugs,
quiger

I'm hoping today doesn't end because it's partly sunny and warmer than it has been the past few days.  Last weekend it was 70+ degrees here in Connecticut....so of course it's supposed to snow tomorrow!

Love New England weather!

Awww Quiger - I think you've forgotten how much fun living in snow country is!!   ::)  Nah, I'm sure your kids keep you posted!!  Do you live in a part of FL that got snow this year?  At one point this winter, there was snow in 49 of our 50 states at one time!!   :o  Wow!!

Wishing you a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l spring filled with green grass, budding trees, flowers sprouting, and warmer days.   ;D

I miss you QT!!

Hugs,
Bucky

Hey Bucky,

Oh yes, I sure remember what living in snow country is like. I still worry about my son up there driving to work everyday in that mess. Actually we did get some snow. They said it was the first time since 1979. It was those great big flakes. I hate to admit it, but it was kind of cool, no pun intended. It did reach the ground and lightly covered it. I didn't mind too much because I knew it was a one time thing and probably wouldn't happen again for another thirty years. They sure thought it was a big deal down here though. You'd have thought they hadn't seen snow for thrirty years or something......oh yea they haven't lol. See? Still have my sense of humor. Some things don't change.  ;D I took a couple of pictures for my grandson. He thought it was cool because he has never seen snow and couldn't believe snow came to grandma's house. They didn't get any in south Floida.

Our flowers are blooming and we have planted some of our garden already. The rabbits ate the eggplant leaves so we have to plant more. We planted our tomatoes from seed so they are outside now too. It's storming today so they will get lots of water. I hope you have a great spring. Before long you will hear me complaining about the heat and humidity. Yep, can't please me, lol. Take care, hope you enjoy spring break.

Hugs,
quiger

Quiger - thought of you this morning as the temperature was 29 degrees, 15 mph winds and I'm pumping gasoline without any gloves and my fingers were freezing and felt like they would snap off at any moment!!!   :o  Don't ya secretly miss this??  LOL

My "ideal" temperature is 70-75 degrees . . . any cooler than that and I'm cold, any warmer than that and I'm hot.   ::)   Throw in the wind, sun, air conditioning, heat, etc. . . . yep, I'm never happy either.   ;)

There won't be any gardens here for a while yet - too early for that.

Over the winter some moles had a hayday on our front property . . . there are dirt mounds e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e!!   :o  Our cat, Spooky, isn't doing her job of keeping the mole population down!!  Somehow, we'll have to go out there and "try" and level the yard out (we don't have one of those roller thingys).  My hubby could care less about the yard - if he had his way, he'd let it grow up wild and slap up a sign "wildlife refuge - do not mow"!!  I kid you not!!    ::)

Have a great Spring!!   ;D
