Title: One/Two Punch Weather Weekend . . .
Post by: Bucky on February 19, 2010, 11:54:09 AM
Hello from sunny Central IL - at least at the moment.   8) There are two weather systems coming our way this weekend.  One to slide thru later this afternoon/evening and another one coming Sunday into Monday.  Six weeks from tomorrow starts the official beginning of Spring.  Until then, it is still winter!!   Hmmmm . . . . whatever we get here in IL usually (but not always) heads East the next day - so you people in IN, OH, PA and parts around there, be ye warned!!   ::)

The car is gassed up, groceries bought, working on catching up the laundry, so I'm ready . . . . bring it on!!!

Of course, it all depends on which way the storm tracks as to how much snow we get out of this storm.  We could get a dusting, an inch or two, or eight to nine inches . . . who knows!!

Enjoy your weekend and be encouraged that this too will pass (storm) and spring is just around the corner.   ;D

Yes I live in PA and they are saying we will get another storm on Sunday to Monday. They are saying it might be a mixed storm, with Freezing rain ETC.  While I am tired of snow,  because we had over 3 feet where we live,  freezing rain and ice is so much worse.   We run the risk of no electricity.  Bucky I am so looking forward to spring and summer.
Then we are supposed to have another storm on Thursday Yippee!

Hi Bucky from the great area of Eastern Iowa - nice to have a fellow Midwesterner!
Just a dusting of snow here today BUT Sunday night we are expecting to get hit with a bunch (Course it depends on how the weather tracks so they are keeping a watch on it.  :-\ )  Right now they are all over the place from 1 inch to 12 inches. You'd think they could narrow that down some?  :P

Course I work Monday and it is an overtime day too so I will probably have to get a ride to work that day and pay to get my driveway shoveled.  Off day of 25th for dr appts/tests  and have to drive 30-40 miles to get to them so I hope I am shoveled out by then or it has melted. (I can dream. LOL )  ;)

How many days is it until Spring?  And didn't anyone think of standing by that groundhog hole with a load of buckshot in case he stuck his nose out???  ;) :D :D

Going to the pharmacy this afternoon, one of area church signs said, 'If you're praying for snow, please stop!" ;D

Oh Joy, love that sign.   :D

I am so sick of this white stuff with the dirty trimmings.  I keep praying that I'll wake up and it will all be gone.  I know................dream on. ::)

I haven't heard our weather report for the past couple days, I've been a little distracted. ;D
To tell you the truth I'm a little leary of even knowing what's coming, if anything.  I'm just enjoying the sunshine and the joyful sound of water running down the rain gutters.  It's melting!

COME ON SPRING!!!  PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there everyone, we might be longing for this come about the middle of July or August.  ;D

Hugs, Pooh

Joy - love the sign.   :D

Well, the snow has begun!!  It's 1:51 p.m. and it started snowing about 1:30 p.m. - started out a few BIG flakes, then lots of big flakes - snowing very fast - now, it's smaller flakes, but still a steady pace.  :o  Suppose to be snowy through tomorrow morning.   Of course, son is hoping for another snow day tomorrow from school - we'll see.

Have a good afternoon / evening.  We're staying in.   ;D  If this "lovely" stuff is in your neck of the woods - be careful!!

Bucky

P.S.  27 days till Spring!!   ;D  Hang in there!!

Good morning from snowy IL.   ::)

No school today!!!   ;D  I'm not sure "exactly" how much snow we got - looking out the window, I would say 5 inches - now I know 5" isn't that much in the realm of snow, but this is a wet, heavy snow with ice underneath.  The trees look beautiful this morning with the snow hanging on them.   The reason for the snow day off school is this is a rural area and the winds are kicking up so there will be blowing and drifting (although, if this stuff is heavy - I don't see it blowing around too much - I'm confused on this one!!   :o)

Spring is coming, Spring is coming, Spring is coming   ;D   ;D   ;D

Bucky,

5 inches is a blizzard to us. NO JOKING!!!

As far as school closing? If it is even predicted that a flake of snow will drop schools are CLOSED, announed the day BEFORE that flake is spotted!

These kids have more time at home looking at dry streets simply because these weatherpersons have given false warnings! At least this year there have been actual snow days, but not all the ones they are now having to make up, some not a flake was spotted.
