I would like to ask you all to keep good thoughts and send some prayers my daughter Penny's way on Friday.
She going for her disability hearing on Friday and this is the third time. She has a lawyer this time and we are all praying she gets it this time. She and her husband have been real tough times these past 3 years and they are about to lose their home because she can no longer work. On top of my son-in-law trying to work his regular job and side jobs on weekends, he was struck broadside by a driver in a pickup that ran a stop sign. After spending a week in the ICU he continues to try to work and keep up with things but they really need this disability for my daughter.
Please say a prayer and keep good thoughts for her on Friday, the 19th. With all the spinal injuries and the growths in her lungs and kidneys, plus the Fibro, the progressive loss of use of her legs and arms, she has really been in pain. She's 48 and has been fighting this for the past 17 years.
Why does it take a legal army to convince this judges that she truly needs this.

Really thinking of your daughter. Its not fair that when you feel so unwell, you have to fight for your rights like this. In the uk, people apply to the Government departments for benefits and can get turned down but at least we do not have to have a lawyer on board although i am given to understand the appeals process is very lengthy as well. Certainly some illnesses are flatly refused first, second or even third time and some people i know just give up applying as it impacts on the illness so much. So i am sending you all some good thoughts.

We will definitely keep all of your family in our thoughts and prayers and wish for a successful outcome this time. It is unimaginable what they have gone through, and with their home in jeopardy on top of all that.

My prayers go out for your daughter Penney that this time she will be approved. Most especially I will pray that those hearing her case. I pray they will open their minds to the facts and open their hearts to her suffering. I still to this day do not understand how people are approved. Some who seem to need it the most, have to fight the hardest to be approved. Your family will be prayed for everyday this week. Please let us know how things go for Penney.
I 'm too praying that ALL goes well for your daughter and SIL. I pray that she is abe to get money dating back since she first applied all these years ago, hoping that it will be a blessing so that they can have a fresh start.

Pooh, I, too have the hopes and prayers all the others do for Penny and your SIL. It is really tough when your kids are down and out. My daughter has been out of work for one year! Has had 2 or 3 interviews. With this, she is Type I diabetic and has seizure disorder--so she may have to start that route.
With all us pulling for her, it just should work out!!! Lucy
Please keep those good thoughts and prayers coming. We are getting ready to leave for the capitol in a few minutes for the hearing. The lawyer wants her there a little early to talk to her before they go before the judge.
The official time for the hearing is 2 p.m. so I will let you all know how things went when I get home.

Well.........it's been a long day. We arrived at the hearing room at 1:15 and waited for her lawyer to come to go over things before going into the judge.
We waited, and we waited and we waited some more. The other cases were running about 30 minutes behind and by 2:15 her lawyer had still not shown. She called the office to see why and the lawyer's assistant informed my daughter that she wasn't on the calendar for today. And that she took full responsibility because she had missed putting it on her boss's schedule.
Ask what she was suppose to do now, she was told to ask for a continuance. My daughter said, "no, I will not". "I've waited 5 yrs. now, and I won't wait another day". With encouragement from her husband, Dad, daughter and Mom. She wiped her tears and headed for the hearing room.
15 minutes later she and hubby emerged with the biggest smiles you have ever seen. Upon hearing from the baliff that my daughter's attorney was a no show, he agreed to hear her case from her directly. After going over her papers and asking her about 4 questions, he said to her "You have hereby won your case and your disability claim is hereby granted." "Also let it be read into the records, that you are not to pay your attorney anything, not one dime".
SHE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all on her own and she gets to keep the attorney fees.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU EVERYONE for putting in those good thoughts and prayers. It's been a long 5 yrs. She won.

Congrats to your daughter and her family, you and your hubby for standing by her all this time. Congrats to the judge who did the right thing. What wonderful news about your daughter! It was also great to hear she is to pay the attorney nothing. After 5 years, that's small compensation for your daughter's suffering, but it's a step in the right direction.

Pooh . . . . CONGRATULATIONS to you all!! ;D When I first started reading your post and got to the point where Penny's lawyer wasn't there - I'm telling the computer screen, "Oh No!!". Good for Penny standing up for herself and refusing to ask for a continuance.
I know a huge weight has been lifted for all of you, especially Penny, her husband and family.

I can only say to those of you trying for your disability, NEVER GIVE UP. If at first you don't succeed, TRY, TRY, again. My daughter did and she finally won after 5yrs. and 3 tries.

I was so happy to read the good news...I got goose bumps hearing that your daughter Penny got what she really has been waiting for and so deserved and that the judge did the right thing and that she stood up for herself and did it with the help of her wonderful family and without her attorney who will not get paid! Whewwwww...I could go on and on....it was the right thing all the way around...and good to hear!
