Title: Hey Patze!
Post by: Poochie on February 05, 2010, 06:06:47 AM
Hey Patze!  Batten down the hatches!  We are about to get a lotttttttttt of the white stuff.

You take care and be careful if you have to drive.  The weatherman says we are going to about a foot to a foot and half of the stuff.  WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!....................................NOT!!

Not looking forward to being snowed in all weekend.  It's beautiful out here in the country, but it's also inaccessible when it snows.

Take care everyone that will be in this mess,

Hugs, Pooh

Morning Pooh . . . . I thought maybe you and Patze would be in the line of fire of all the snow from Al Roker's reports.

The snow is pretty looking at it from the inside of your warm home - a nightmare when you are out traveling in it.  My Dad and brother both plow snow - I bet they will be busy this weekend.

I know what you mean about being out in the country on roads that are inaccessible when it snows.  They tend to the main roads first, back country roads last.  The road I live on is the dividing line between two counties - for the most part, they do a very good job of keeping it clear.  In fact, two of the men helped me in my driveway once a couple years back when I got stuck.  They had gone by and saw me out there shoveling out snow from around my tires, came back and walked down the driveway to help.   ;D  I sure appreciated it.

Get your camera out and get some pictures.  Do some baking, make some Valentine cards for the grandkids/greats, read a book, take a nap, play some online games, phone a friend . . . the list goes on.   :D  Take care and stay warm and safe.

Everyone getting snowed in this weekend - be safe and warm.

Hugs,
Bucky

Good luck with the weather folks. I'll be watching to see how you are doing, and hope you don't get trapped at inopportune times.

We have had the opposite here with El Nino - while California has gotten all the rain, the Pacific Northwest has been quite warm and dry. We will suffer later on in the spring when it gets cold and rainy again, after El Nino fades away. Hard on the garden - our plants are very confused.

Hey Pooh!

Thanks for the warning, as I was out in it, and thankfully it was still warm enough that it was not sticking to the roadways (like it is now).  It's going to be a wonderful, white weekend (like I have enough w's in this sentence? :))

I hope that you don't loose your power lady...stay wrapped up tight, lean back, and enjoy the show as it's going to be a good one!  I'm thinking about 14-16 inches instead of the close to 30 they are talking about.

For our members that have to be out there, please be very careful!  Get home safe, take it easy, and stay warm!

Take care y'all, and be very safe -

Patze

here in central Ohio, I have about 10 inches or a bit more.   It is suppose to stop about noon.  Has slowed down and if they are right, we have just about 1 hour more of snow to go.

Holy Snow Cow!  We are up to 32 inches and counting.  We are right on the southern tip of PA and what Maryland suppose get has moved up to us.  YOEW!!

Had to dig out the dog pen this morning so the furry ones could get out to do their business.  Poor girls didn't look happy, but Mother Nature must be answered. ;D

I made 2 big pots of soup yesterday and stocked up on snacks, food essentials, and good stuff to eat.  The Ham & Bean and Chicken Noodle soups are for dinner should the power go out.  We have a camp stove that we can fire up in the garage (with the door cracked for ventilation) and heat it on there.

We also have a generator that will be pushed outside and started up, should the power be off to long.

I'm stocked up on knitting yarn and diet soda, de-caf coffee, low cal ice cream and cottage cheese and yogurt.  Hubby and daughter have their own stash of stuff, so we're good to go.

Weatherman informed us this morning, that there is another snow system coming in for Tuesday and Wednesday.  Sure wish we could ship this snow to the Olympics.  Or anywhere that wants it.  PLEASE,  come take all you want.   ;D  PLEASE!!!

Everyone be careful if you must go out in this,

Hugs, Pooh

Pooh . . . . I can't EVEN imagine 32 inches of snow!!   :o  That's a lot!!!  When I walked down to the end of the driveway to get the newspaper and mail I took the yard stick with me.  Don't hate me, but . . . . I measured in a couple of spots . . . I got readings of anywhere from 1 - 2 1/2" of snow.  Not much at all.  I think you Eastern states are the ones targeted this time.

Glad to hear you are prepared food wise to wait this out.  Perhaps you could put a sign in your yard "FREE snow - take all you want!!".   :D

My brother who lives in Powell, OH (Columbus area) called and said they had gotten a foot of snow.  He plows a hospital parking lot and said he had been working 25 hrs. straight so far.

IF it had to happen, at least it was with the weekend here so people didn't have to worry about their jobs.  Less people on the road makes it easier for the plows to do their jobs.  Bet AAA and tow truck companies are very busy this weekend!!

Everybody stay warm and safe.

Bucky

32 inches Pooh!?!?  Wow, we stopped right around 22 inches and it's going to freeze tonight, it's so not going to be fun trying to dig out the car tomorrow (the snow is finally winding down for my area now).  I took out the garbage, and it took almost 15 minutes to walk to the canisters one way (usually takes 1-2 minutes max), eh gads the drifts were so high!

I'm sorry to hear that the girls aren't happy, but y'all were able to semi plow for them!

Stay warm and save for those in the storm path!

Take care all -

Poochie, I'll see you come spring! ::) ::)

Yeah, I remember 1977 as a really bad winter. Our first out here in the country and my hubby plowed snow all winter long. When the snow and wind are bad it takes about 4 hours with a big show blower to clear around our house and our son's house. Just a real mess.

I also remember 1978 as not being any better here in Minnesota. The really bad winter was the winter of 83-84. We had a lot of snow that year and in Dec 83 the wind chill was 80 below zero. The farmers really suffered that year. Augers froze, water pipes in barn froze, just a mess. When I would come out after work my tires on my van would be flat on one side and have to drive slowly klunk klunk klunk home. They got warmed up and normal about the time I got home.

WE are not having any of this weather--not even a snow flake. Supposed to have snow the next 4 days but doesn't sound like much. The East coast is just a mess. I can't imagine how long the electricity will be off with the rain, snow and wind the next few days. Hope everyone was prepared and has some place to go when without power. Take care all and stay warm. Irish ;D

Hi all,
I have to amend our depth of snow, the weather man says we only received 29 inches.   ::)

32 or 29 it's a lot of dang snow out there.  The drifts are up to the kitchen window sill.  The temps this morning are at 16 degrees.  Brrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say I am staying in the house till spring!

Hugs to all, stay warm, stay safe and if you have to go anywhere in this mess, PLEASE be careful.

GREETING from the snowy tundra,

OMG, since around 3 this afternoon we have about 5-6 inches on top of the last load of snow.

It's beautiful to look at, but I feel so sorry for those highway workers running the plows.  Now they are saying we may get more next week.  :o

Where the heck are we going to put? ::)

Oh well, back to my knitting.  At least I have a warm lap where my project is laying.  Now I'm really glad the sale on tea was 2 for.  I always hate buying 2 of everything because I have no where to store it, but this is one time I don't mind having it on the counter. ;D

As long as we have power, tomorrow will be another cook and bake day.  Beef stew and chocolate chip cookies.  Ahh!! chocolate chip cookies..........................my comfort food.  Maybe I'll even bake a loaf of bread.

Take care all of you in this mess, if you must go out, PLEASE, please be very careful,

Hugs, Pooh

Pooh - just what you wanted . . . more snow!!!   ::)  I can't imagine more on top of what you already have!

School was cancelled here today, and they already called tonight and said it's cancelled for tomorrow.  Tomorrow it's because the winds have kicked in and there is lots of blowing and drifting.  There's a lot of open farm land here and the wind just breezes across them and then it drifts across the roads.  I'm glad they called tonight - we get to sleep in tomorrow morning.   ;D

Mmmmmmm, your beef stew and chocolate chip cookies sound yum-o!!  Fresh homemade bread . . . . ohhhhhhhh, you're making my mouth water!!   :D  I'm thinking of making ham and beans with cornbread.  We haven't had that in a lonnnng time.

Enjoy your tea.   :D  I hope you keep your power too.

Patze & Harlin -  hope you both keep your power too.  Ugh, more digging for you Patze.   :(

Stay safe everyone.  If you don't HAVE to be out in this stuff, stay home.

Bucky

P.S.  Well, come to think of it Pooh, bread is kinda tough for me to eat now that I have Sjogren's.   Before Sjogren's it sure was yummy fresh out of the oven.  Wonder if they have a fresh baked bread candle scent??  LOL  (I'm sure they do - they have everything else.)

Hey Bucky,

Actually I've seen a candle that is bread scented, but alas, I didn't buy it as it would have made me buy a loaf (I don't eat it either because it'll stuck swallowing, or it just tears up the old tummy, ugh).  I do love the scent of fresh baked bread, especially banana bread!  Oh boy, I can wolf down half a loaf of that any day, and twice on Sunday (but I'd pay for it, oh, I would so pay for it!)!

Yeah, more digging, yippee!  ::)  I wouldn't mind it too much, but the wind is just ferocious!

Y'all take care of yourselves -

Patze

Hey - Hey - Hey,
Well, I guess we are here until Summer, not Spring..............SUMMER!  I just woke up from a nap and hubby told me our township plow turned over in the edge of a field down the road.  Happy, Joy, Joy!!

Daughter is resolved to the fact that getting into the hospital to work (she's a computer tech) is a hopeless cause.  She is working from here, with her cell phone attached to a head phone and her computer in her lap.  If she can't fix it from here, it's going to have to wait.

Our son just called us from sunny Florida and 70 degrees gloating.  I told him to hush up, I didn't want to hear it.   ;D  However, he's in for it when he gets loaded and heads north to deliver it.  Thennnnnnnnnnn he'll find out what's up here. :o  Even worse, he'll not be able to get to his house from the road without a plow.

This country living is wonderful in good weather, but when it gets like this, it's a ------!

Take care all, if you live in this mess, PLEASE BE CAREFUL and stay in if you don't absolutely have to be out in it.

Hugs, White Out Pooh  ;D

Hey Pooh,

Ah, that plow overturning must be a common thing, had one that slide down a hill, and wound up in a ditch on it's side.  Whew, I'd hate to have to explain that to the guys boss as the truck was going up the wrong way on a one way street.

Patze I hope you didn't get any of this snow that came in unannouced this evening.  We have another 1/2 or so.  This came in from the north this time.  I hope it didn't get down to you.

It's not much, but any more on top of what we already have is to much. ::)

Take care and think SPRING!!!

Hey Patze,

Guess what's coming north again? :-\

They (weather forecasters) say it won't be much and probably won't lay on anything but the old stuff.  Oh WooHoo, and whoopedity, personally it can go rest somewhere else.

I keep hoping when I wake up this will all be a dream and the flowers will be blooming. ;D

Oh wouldn't that be lovely!! :)
