Title: Weak, shakey voice?
Post by: Katybarstool on December 01, 2009, 01:56:18 PM
Part of my working day is spent on our helpline. Sometimes, if I've been talking a lot, my voice seems to fade a bit. Yesterday, we were staff down due to sickness and I was on the phone more than usual. When it became time to record a message to close the helpline, I was the only one available to do it. This is nothing new - I've done it many times before. However, upon checking the message, I could hardly recognise, the weak, frail voice of the granny who was speaking - I couldn't believe it was mine.

HAs anyone else found that their voice has changed so much?

Yes the same thing happens to me!  I teach and if I don't take my Evoxac before I start the afternoon sessions I almost lose my voice entirely.

I speak a lot too.  If I didn't have my water to sip I would lose my voice.  I used to think that was normal ::)

Yes, it totally makes sense.  If our mouths are dry, our vocal cords are likely dry as well.  They need hydration in order to work efficiently.  I go through periods of this as well and don't have any cures for it except rest.  As a voice teacher, it's very frustrating when it happens!!!
