Hi all,
Just got a letter from my new rheumutologist - my bloods were all negative - so he has said there is no way that I can have any auto immune disease. He has me booked in for a lip biopsy next week. I am wondering if there is any point going for it since getting this letter?
just feeling a bit down as last week he suggested that my tummy meds may be causing everything and I have just had the week from heck, from changing to another med, which has given me an upset tummy for a week (I guess the silver linning to that is that I lost weight and will fit into a dress for Christmas)
I guess my rhuematologist is in the camp of no positive bloods no sjs >:(
anyway I guess I'll get the biopsy in the hope that something will show up
take care all,
Trudie
Hi Trudie :)
It's so annoying to know that something is up and having tests come back not confirming it. I hope the lip biopsy gives you some answers.
If it is also negative, somehow or other, you have to persuade your doc to treat your symptoms! You may need to change rheumy. Answers are best but getting the symptoms treated is the next best option. Please keep us posted.
Take care - Scottie :)
Trudie!
You gotta find another doctor, honey! He's not clever enough for this. Autoimmune disease is complex and intricate....and rarely presents the same in everyone!

Hi Trudie,
Oh boy, I sure feel your pain as I've always been sero negative for everything, and that can be so demoralizing!
The others are right, can you get a second opinion maybe? I ask because not every doctor will will treat symptoms (I learned that the hard way when the thyroid decided to cause me grief).
I'm not a propionate of the biopsy (I'd love to see the procedure go the way of the dinosaur), but if you decide to do it, please make sure that the doctor performing the procedure knows what he is doing (not all doctors that do them, do them well). And see if the lab does enough of them to know what they are looking at as not all labs are that fluent in them.
Hang in there, and take care -
Patze
you are right guys it is demoralizing.
I'll let you know what I decide about the lip biopsy
have a great day to all
