Title: Someone cheer me up...
Post by: harrigan on November 29, 2009, 12:47:21 PM
As if it's not bad enough being 50 in a couple of days, being cold and wet, now I've got a sore chest, streaming cold AND we've been told at school that OFSTED will be in schoolin the next 20 days (5 already gone) with just half an hour's notice!  It's pure torture and I feel sick with nerves and can't relax at all.

I'm just hoping they come tomorrow and get it over with.  Bucky, thankyou for your laughter thread, just what I need at the moment ;D

Aw wow!    Poor you and what a worry with OFSTED coming  >:(

I don't know any good jokes  :(   Where's Bucky - that's who can tell you a funny story!  ;D

Hope you feel much better, very soon.  xx

((Harrigan)),

Sorry things are all topsy turvy for you right now.  I'm not sure what  OFSTED is, but I worked in a school kitchen and I know our head cook would be a nervous wreck anticipating the health inspector who popped in twice a year for surprise inspections.  We would "kinda" have an idea when he "might" pop in, but we never knew for sure.  For your sake, I hope they come this week and get it over with too.  Sorry you're not feeling well.  :(   From someone who knows, 50 ain't so bad.   ;D  It's just a number!!

I hope this brings a little smile to your face.

Computer Problem

Young Joanne, the editor of a news publication, was having trouble with her computer.
So she called Tim, the computer guy, over to her desk.
Tim clicked a couple buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, Joanne called after him, "So,
what was wrong?"  And he replied, "It was an ID ten T error."

A puzzled expression ran over Joanne's face.
"An ID ten T error?  What's that . . . in case I need to fix it again??"
He gave her a grin . . . ;-) . . .
"Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"

"No," replied Joanne.

"Write it down,"  he said, "and I think you'll figure it out."

(She wrote . . . )  1 D 1 0 T

Harrigan,

So sorry to hear that everything is piling up all at once for you...I know how those inspections can be....where I work we have Department of Human Services and Department of Public Health come in for regular surveys. And that's where we get our certifications and money from...so its gets frustrating at times...especially since its their job to write up agencies!

As far as turning 50.....I'm going to be doing that in another few months too.....but it doesn't seem to be bothering me too much yet! Hope it stays that way...lol! I'll let you go ahead and let me know how it feels.....I'm sure we will both be fine....cuz as Bucky says its just a number!

I also turned 50 this year but back in February.    It is just a number.

As far as the stress at work, I don't know what a OFSTED is.

But here is my story..... I have been on vacation days from Wednesday through this coming Monday.     So far i have worked:
On Wednesday - I really did take it off.
On Thursday 3 hours.
On Friday  9 hours 10 mins
On Saturday 5 hours 20 mins
On Sunday (today) just finished up 4.5 hours
and I expect to put in more time tomorrow - Monday.

I don't get paid any extra for the time. I am still "taking" my vacation days.
All this just to try to get caught up on project work since other "hot" things had to be taken care of during the normal days.   And the sad thing, is stuff like this is "expected" .

Not allowed to have those projects falling behind according to the boss.  And since he has managed to fire one person from our group this year mainly due to problems the employees new illness  --- I am not the least concerned-.  ( so how does sarcasm come through in an email? )

Hang in there with the stress,   I hope it gets better for you.

Good luck with the OFSTED.  All I can say is paperwork.  Make sure you have lots and lots of paperwork!

thanks Harrigan, for allowing me to complain in your thread.   I guess I needed cheering up too.   Well its Tuesday morning and it really is back to work again.   I only worked 1.5 hours on Monday.    Decided that I needed more of that day off afterall.

Hope your school inspectors don't cause you too many issues.

Ailsa - that's too much all at once!  I think being 50 is the best bit and OFSTED the worst.  This new system of just turning up with half an hour's notice is supposed to be an improvement but who for?  Drown them in paperwork, as Wallaby says, because that's all they understand or value.

What are you doing to celebrate your birthday?  Was your Amsterdam trip in the summer for a friend's birthday or an early birthday present for you?  It will be my turn next July so I'm looking for ideas, preferably ones that don't require any energy!

Thinking of you - Chickpea

Well ...  Spent Tues and Weds in bed with a stonker of a cold.  Dragged myself out of bed into school this morning (my birthday) and the 2 bells signal went out at 8.20 to announce OFSTEd were 5 mins away!

Then came the email that they were focusing on English and Maths, and at 9.30 the news that I was first on the list.  No idea how it went as he stayed half an hour then went elsewhere.  I was totally wrung out when he'd gone!

Tonight we went out for a meal with friends, parents and kids which was lovely.  I am so looking forward to bed (in new jamas!) and the knowledge that there is nothing to dread tomorrow - at least nothing I know of in advance!

Chickpea, hope you are feeling better.  Yes, the Amsterdam trip was a joint 50th and wonderful but lots of walking and standing.  I'd go for something much more relaxing, like a country house hotel with pool and nice grounds.  Thanks for all the support this week.  Where would \I be without you all?  XX Ailsa

Hi Ailsa

What a day!  You couldn't write it as the script for 'Waterloo Road'!  The only plus side is that it was done and dusted first thing in the morning.

The rest of the day sounds lovely and I'm glad everyone made a fuss of you.  You deserve it.

Hope you have a restful weekend.

Take care - Chickpea xxx
