I need some help. I am on a wait-list for a rheumatologist (looking like end of Feb). I have been seeing my general doc. Well, I have had a horrible sore throat for almost two years now. It comes and goes-- this is what actually got me to my diagnosis. But not before I was loaded with six different antibiotics and MRI for a swollen throat gland.
Just these past few months, the throat has flared up again. It feels like I have swallowed glass. The gland in my throat on my right side swells up like a walnut. It actually feels like I have strep throat, but I've been tested over and over again. What I am concerned about is that I have this pus filled lump on the back of my throat near my gum line. It hasn't gone away, despite all the antibiotics that I've been on.
I feel like I should go back to the doctor, but I don't want to go on another round of antibiotics. And I would push to see an ENT, but I want to know if this is something that is "usual" with Sjogren's. I don't know if this is an "ulcer". Does anybody else have anything like this?
Hi K,
I don't have what you describe but it doesn't sound like anything "usual" for sjogrens or anything else. I would definitely get in to the doctor and have them look at it and decide. I would think if you could get into an ENT that would be best, but if not I would go in to your regular doc for now and have him/her look at it and refer you to a good ENT.
I say to get it checked out...it sounds very painful.
Wow kwolfsheimer, that sounds very painful! Lynnmarie's right, please do see an ENT soon, you shouldn't have to live with the pain and aggravation.
Good luck and I'll keep the fingers crossed that the doctor will be able to figure out what is wrong soon.
