I was here previously as Tabbykitten but now have a new ID. I don't think I ever introduced myself properly so here goes:
I'm English, of a certain age (!), female, living in Yorkshire. Have lived and worked in Turkey and New Zealand previously, and now back to my roots here in the lovely north of England. I teach privately, both English and Turkish, in person and online, and so work from home which suits me well.
I was (self) diagnosed with SJS while living in NZ, about 3 years ago, when I developed dry sore eyes. I was variously told it was a viral infection, conjunctivitis etc -all wrong. About a year later I started with dry mouth at night, and after a lot of research online thought it must be SJS as I fit all the criteria of sex, age etc. I asked my GP for a test and although he was quite scornful about my self-diagnosis he did it (well he was being paid for it) and I was sadly proved right.
Anyhow since then I have moved around a lot, continued with the dry eyes which are somewhat better now I have 3 plugs, but with increasing dry mouth at night. I am thankful, now that I'm back in the UK, for the National Health Service, which gets a lot of criticism. I can get everything I need on prescription, which with a prepaid annual certificate costs me ?108 per year for any number of items.
I've recently had some swelling of the parotid glands and had a sialogram, which was rather unpleasant, and having just done a search on here am surprised I can't see more about it. Will post separately about this.
Anyhow, just wanted to say hi again now that I am settled (at the moment anyway) and have time to keep up with all of you on the forums.

Wow...you sure have traveled around a bit....that's exciting! But I'm glad to hear that you are now settled back in to the place you consider "home". It's always nice to go back, isn't it?

Yes, it's good to be back and settled in the UK. Kathy in West Yorkshire, I am in Ripon - would love to find a local group! There isn't a BSS group around here, have checked.

I was told there was a group in Newcastle. It is no longer. It was gone by the time I was told about it. I thought the Leeds group was the nearest. It's gone too? Shoot!
