Maybe a Repeat Question...the "itchies" anyone??
« on: July 27, 2009, 12:00:40 PM »
Good Lord!! I will just go out of my mind here!! I have, yet again, a terrible case of "everything itches"...even my tongue, I tell you  ::) How weird is that? Do any of you Sjogrenites (woah...that's a wild word) experience this? It feels like a pin-prick/ouch, followed by an itch. Also...anyone have white, 'vitiligo-like' spots on their skin?

Look forward to hearing what You experience,
Robin

With dry skin I think it is only normal to have the itches, which only get worse during the winter months.

I itch everywhere after my morning shower, and so I pat dry and slap on loads of body lotion.  I never had a problem with my tongue itching though, sounds awful.  Poor you!   xx

Hi Robin  :)

I don't think itching is unusual and also itching can be a side effect of Plaquenil. I would still mention it to a doc though just in case it has another cause. Liver abnormalities can cause itching for instance. better safe than sorry.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I get the itching a lot - dry skin kind of thing, but the wildest itching I ever had was when I was on Doxycycline.  Whew, don't want to repeat that.

I too would mention it to your doctor and see what he has to say about it; like Scottie says, better safe than sorry.

hey Americana Woman,

I too  have periods of severe itching, burning itching on my  legs and I also have those small white spots, which my dermatologist (who used to be a neuro) told me was sun damage..I have also read this is a type of parasthesia ( spelling probably wrong) so not sure if it's dry skin or the nerve problems.
Are you diagnosed with anything other than SJS? I know I have it but don't know if it's primary or secondary.
I hope you figure out what's going on soon.
Take Care! Kim

Hi Robin,
You might want to check in with your doctor, especially since you have the white spotches.  It could just be dry skin, but there are things that can cause "the itches".

Your autonomic nervous system will throw things at you that are just about the weirdest you will ever have.  Such as sudden sweat spells, especially from the neck up.  Then there is the sudden "holy cow, it's hot in here", when the room temp says 65. :o  And the stinging effect that you speak of, then the itching.  :-\

For my dry skin, I can pretty much keep it under control with Dove's Moisture Body Wash.

I have the stinging/biting feeling in my legs all the time because of neuropthay, but like I said, it could be anything for us Sjoggie's.  Please check with your doctor.
