Eyes
« on: October 19, 2021, 05:05:07 PM »
Hi  :)

I went to the optician's in April because I really wasn't seeing properly. I had cataract ops on both eyes over the previous couple of years. Your eyes are very dry they said. I said I'd known that since 2002 and it should be in their notes. We want to refer you to the local eye hospital they said. I said - they already know I have dry eyes. They said - yes - but your eyes aren't moving properly. They are not following the light up the way.

In September I phoned the GP to see if they'd forwarded the referral letter. They had. Don't expect to hear anything for at least a year they said. There is a terrible backlog due to Covid.

I now frequently see double (but not all the time) which is very disconcerting.

Just needed to moan.

Take care - Scottie :)

Scottie, I am so sorry to hear this. Did you and I post some about myasthenia gravis in relation to some of your symptoms? I just felt like this was a familiar issue with the double vision. Is there any way you could see neurologist also as could be the nervous system being affected. Have you had any other new issues that could be related also. Just really a puzzle I would say. Hope they can get you in sooner.

I have to tell you that I had a GI bleed in June and one in July that I think were from 2 different issues. However, I was in midst of moving and got the IV iron in previous town and then searched for GI for colonoscopy in new town. My colonoscopy is Nov 1st. This is a very large GI specialty clinic with about 120 GI docs and they are so booked out because all the people who stayed home during 2020 due to the covid have come out of the bushes for their colonoscopies. I also just heard that in the US about 80% of women put off their mammogram til this year. Covid has upset our lives in so many ways hasn't it.

Keep us posted and put up a fuss if you are getting worse. Of course, you know that, but I am a mother.lol Thinking of you lots. meirish

OMG, Scottie!  I have that same problem of 'seeing double' sometimes, but only when I'm reading.  Not like when looking at things in general.  And the 'seeing double' happens for a while and then seems to go away!.

I Googled the condition and I think I either have a muscle problem or maybe a nerve problem.  I need to see a regular ophthalmologist (not the retina specialist who is treating my newly diagnosed macular degeneration).

Of course, now that I'm in a 'gone away' phase, I'm not motivated to make yet another appointment with another specialist.

It's always something.....and then it's something totally unexpected.

Hi  :)

Thanks for the replies. OMG Irish - a GI bleed must be scary. Glad you are seeing someone soon. I've actually seen a neurologist and he has taken blood to test for myasthenia but I'm not sure when I get the results. He will write to my GP.

Elaine - I had a bit of double vision before I had cataracts done and that was text only - and worse when tired. It's awkward seeing people when things come and go - isn't it?

Take care - Scottie  :)
